Wonder how someone can be posthumously-anything on the account of, you know, the subject being dead.
These things are so confusing. If you're an idiot.

What were her family given the the reward for?
I agree that words are important but the thread title is pretty accurate and describes exactly what happened.
It wasn't a reward, it was a settlement. I haven't looked into it, but I assume that the family brought a wrongful death suit against the police, and the decision was made to settle rather than go to court. I believe she was unarmed when shot, and that's a bad look.
My entire issue is the propaganda headline.

Your entire issue is that you’re a treasonous Nazi.

It wasn't really a settlement. Trump's insurrectionist-filled DOJ decided to drop their defense. Don't you wonder why that is? No, of course you don't.

I'm glad that you're perfectly happy to pay for this family of treasonous cvnts in a very public manner, such that the message is very clear that doing crime for Trump can be very rewarding, and you and the public gets to foot the bill every single time. And you know this is exactly what is happening. Put Biden on the other side of it and you'd be apoplectic. You know this. everyone knows this.

Here's what I want to know--can not the families of slain capital police and injured, PTSD officers file civil suits against the Babbit estate and other insurrectionists for the trauma and damage done against them, in their job's defending against these violent insurrectionists?

There is no moral defense for the Babbit family getting paid for trying to steal the United States from the people. That money belongs to the people, and should go to the ones that fought to defend the country--not confederate jackboots.

So by all of the "logic" spewed by the radical lefties here, Saint George of Fentanyl being a career criminal, his family should not have received a $27million settlement. Also he died of an overdose while committing a federal crime.

I am not a lawyer. But if the officers insurance paid them they might be able to sue them

But I would think the insurance companies can sue the insurrections. And the insurance companies probably would have some better lawyers than the officers. Either way I would love those POS get sued

If Harris had won she wouldn’t have gotten shit. I guess how many times Trump labeled her as some sort of wronged patriot.

It’s a reward

Lmao, the right treats babbitt like a saint too and she died committing a federal crime so not sure why any of that would matter even if it was true.

It’s funny how you’ve spent all this time talking about something you freely admit to have spent no time looking into. Also it is sort of funny that the ‘propaganda’ you’re discussing is ‘money paid to a different legal entity’. Lol.

It’s simple - she did far, far more than what would cause her to be shot in countless other situations. Right wing people tried to kill Congress and one of them got killed for it. They should be thankful it was only one.

I do not get it. There are military terrains in the USA with signs that trespassers can and will be shot.
Is there not such a sign or rule for the capital building ? How about the white house ?

Do not get me wrong, i rather have no shooting. A demonstration is a demonstration and that is something different than a riot, lots of people just barging in and damaging governmental or personal property.
Maybe it is time for a taze first , shoot later program ?

White woman trespassing in Congress leading a riot gets shot. White supremacists: Bad!

Black man getting asphyxiated by a police officer for sleeping in a car. White supremacists: Not bad!

Those two statements are made completely logically consistent with the insertion of two words. Guess which two words.

Tons of people would be shot for doing far less.

Disregarding your lie about an overdose, do you think suspicion of passing a counterfeit bill justifies the use lethal force?

Back on topic: Trump has let his violent followers know that if they die while committing violent crimes on his behalf, their families will be taken care of. Much like the House of Saud would reward the families of suicide bombers.

this got quoted by accident, not sure how.
It doesn't seem like a reward since she's dead.
There are two moral principles at play in this issue it seems to me. I think no moral person would consider it a good idea that an unarmed woman was killed by someone who is. On the other side of the issue police carry guns so that if people in the midst of committing a crime will stop or die if ordered to. They have that legal authority which makes such actions at least legal and certainly easily self justifiable. Those officers are there to protect congress from threats. Illegal entry makes you automatically a threat because laws don't matter to people intent of doing harm. The threat can thus be assumed to be real to anybody with common sense.

Put it like this: You have a gun and are an excellent shot. A woman is about to throw a child off a building. There is no other way to stop that but to shoot her but you don't because she is unarmed so the child hits the ground with a splat. She gets the death penalty and is executed. Are your hands clean?

While there is no reward for an unarmed woman posing a threat in front of officers whose job is to stop people like her because, as you said she is dead and reaped the reward she earned earlier in the form of a bullet, giving the family 30 million is intended exactly like this:
Again the very clear message here is if you commit crimes on Trump’s behalf you will be rewarded.
Trump is saying please get yourself shot acting illegally for my sake and I will take care of your family. There won't be any reward for the dead there either.

Morality requires a broad perspective that looks at all aspects and issues posed by any situation, not just the first one that comes to mind.

It never sounds good that an unarmed person got shot but................................. Lets look into it before we decide.

Yep, that's why Derek Chauvin is serving 20 years for Murder, which was proven beyond reasonable doubt. Because his death was due to FENTANYL OVERDOSE.. seriously, why lie? Oh wait.. that's the lie racist assholes run with so they can attempt to ignore the truth. My bad.

Someone could purposely run my ass down with a car tomorrow, and in your eyes, it wouldn't be murder, it would be due to my heart because I have had/do have heart issues.. being ran down by a car had nothing to do with it.
