Wow. First it was Rand Paul dissing tariffs, and now Josh Hawley is talking about trying to protect Medicare and telling republicans they need to choose whether they stand for rich businessmen or the little guy.

It's almost like no one appreciates full on wallet sodomy. No one.

I can't imagine how much money Trump (and his offspring) are making out of the Presidency. I mean, maybe that's really the main driving force, and all the "politics", no matter how evil and scary it appears, is, in fact, just window-dressing for the grifting? [That might actually be the best-case scenario]

Between that airliner, the opaque cryptocoin scheme, the tariff-driven stockmarket gyrations, the pardons he's issued to people who just happened to make "campaign donations" (why does he even need campaign donations given that he can't run again?) and so many other income-generating opportunities, he must be coining it in.

Not to mention the way he's used his power to suspend so many of the regulations that would limit possible grifts, which seems kind of suspect at least.

e.g.

Talk about efficient use of money:
You should see the amount spent on a pointless air campaign against the Houthis. I saw a quote of an article putting the cost at >$1 billion and some in the Pentagon becoming worried that certain assets were being used up so quickly that it was putting some strategic deterrence and ability to counter any China threat in the Pacific at risk.

So that’s what a $400 million flying palace will buy you. You’re move, Bibi.

FWIW, I agree with dropping sanctions against a country that’s trying to find its footing under new leadership—but I would hope a responsible administration would negotiate certain milestones and security guarantees vs. canceling them outright. We don’t want to help funnel petrodollars to the next ISIS, and certainly not any proxies of Iran’s Republican Guard or Putin’s mercenaries. Take a good hard look at how any civil engineering projects are awarded over the next several months, especially in the energy sector.

Imagine the military holding both positions. That the Hothis can exhaust us. And that we are capable of stopping China.
Like, if you cannot swat a gnat on the end of the Middle East peninsula, you have no business in Asia.

Rather, the truth of the matter is any military campaign has costs.
Trump was too stupid to know that ahead of time.
The bill started coming due and Trump cut and run like always.

The Houthi campaign was also just not very smart - it seemed like more mindless bombing with no overall objective. You can't just bomb your way to victory.

Yeah, trying to build a land-bridge across the Red Sea by gradually filling it in with expensive jet fighters seems an inefficient method of fighting a war.

Does the US even have any land-forces stationed in Eritrea who could invade via that route? It just doesn't seem properly-thought through.

And the key here... is that Trump (and MAGA at large) are pretending a similar bombing campaign would stop Iran.
I need to practice dropping and rolling to the floor. In fits of laughter. Cause that's how I feel when my local MAGA speak of Iran. It is so god damn absurd.

Well his approval ratings continue to slowly recover, now at 44% and will probably continue to rise as long as he avoids the excesses of his tariffs policies.

Should put to rest any argument about aMeRiCA dOeSnT WaNt TrUmPiSm.

Yeah, the bar is pretty low when "he temporarily stopped declaring war on the world and his roving bands of masked stormtroopers haven't disappeared anyone I know yet" is seen as a positive sign by the electorate.

That article is talking about a 2% bump in one poll you fucking clown.

———
Here’s a new poll for you:

Our new Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll finds that just 40% of respondents approve of the job Trump has done as president so far, with 21% “strongly” approving and 19% “somewhat” approving. But a majority of 56% disapprove of the president’s job performance, including a particularly high 42% of respondents who say they strongly disapprove. The strong disapprove percentage alone is higher than the president’s overall approval, reflecting that the group of Americans intensely opposed to Trump is much larger than his core base of support.
