because if ur a numb nut like me who decided to upgrade his system last year, and needs a videocard because he promised his brother his 4090, then were SOL.

no one really assumed scalpers could hold out this long, but again, no one assumed nvidia would have a pole in there rear and hold inventory for AI farms more then appealing to the small audience.

I think this is more a ploy on the AI farms to prevent homebrew AI systems from being made and taking AI off private, so they can data farm every question imaginable, like "how can i please my wife to allow me to buy a 5090 without getting served divorce papers."

Its still stupidly priced.
I will pay for founders at 1999, anything more then that, then no way.
Thats a down payment on a car, rent payment for some people, and even what most lower class / middle class take home after taxes each month.

I think you need to re-math. If $24,000 is middle class than damn. Also the solution to not getting served is to not got married .

The XT's been in stock at $720 but really anything under $800 goes quickly.
Where have they been that low? The only place I see those prices has been as part of a Newegg combo, although I did see one direct from Asus a while back. I'm at the point where I've been looking at 5070Ti instead, especially when it's been showing up cheaper ar pcpartpicker..

Gigabyte Gaming 9070XT for $730 available on Newegg right now

It makes me think how rich these younger kids are now a days.
Afford videocards which are well into the mid 4 figures.
Afford loot crates which require you to spend 100's of dollars to get virtual skins / items.
Afford expensive gaming chairs, because their favorate influencer uses them, even tho they are the most uncomfortable thing.

I miss the old days, how you could get a SLI set of top end videocards for less then what it would cost to get a single xx80.

I just noticed on my local Amazon that Gigabyte 5080 cards shipping from Amazon UK and Amazon Germany are the lowest priced among all the AIB models. Guess the leaky thermal putty controversy is hurting their sales.

I'm seriously tempted but then, it seems like a really bad idea if they are releasing 5080 24GB soon. So waiting seems prudent.

Maybe pick one of these up next year if they are confirmed to be reliable and I switch over to a 4k monitor. Still using 1440p like a peasant.

-All it takes is one good generation at reasonable prices and NV will have gamers eating out of their hands again.

Well, "reasonable prices" (by most people's perspective here) ain't happening. Even if the lower end Rubin uses Samsung 2 nm, all that will do is widen the performance gap with the higher end models (which presumably will use N3P).

- A recession can go a long way to resetting corporate profit and margin expectations, and we seem to be sleepwalking into one.

The good thing is that if you're coming from the 3000 series, which was first in line with the proper price surges and demand, you're still covered performance-wise if you're rocking a resolution of less than 4K.

And that's the only good thing I can think of

those eyeing an RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB model presently have slim pickings, but with some searching, they can be found for ~$550 (MSRP $429).

I find it really hard to get excited about this.

Obviously not your fault, but still. My attention is still on the ~$300-$350 price point where the 6800/3060/7700XT have ruled for years and years no. I find this to be the sweet spot when taking a serious pass at building a "quality" $1k PC where you don't intentionally cheap out on things to try to min-max the GPU.

Insert meme of me poking it with a stick saying "do something"

You can play all the games on those cards but come on, lets see something new.

Yeah same here, I want a new card. I don’t want to pay $500+ for it.
I want a new monitor, I don’t want to pay $500+ for a card to power it.
