It had been a while since we have experienced a hail storm, but one came through a couple of days ago. It was mostly nickel sized hail, with some quarter sized. The amount of hail was astounding, covered decks, drives, etc., which became solid white in just minutes, with a mix of shredded green leaves from the oaks, maples, and popular trees. Azalea and rhododendron bushes which were about peak bloom were totally trashed.
Cars were undercover, so no damage there, and the roof didn't sustain any damage. I thought the skylights were going to break any second, but they didn't suffer any damage. Temp dropped from 78F to 60F in less than 5 minutes.

But I think a baby bunny got caught out in the storm and was taken out by the hail. My dog found it several hours after the storm, not a mark on it, so it wasn't a neighborhood cat.

25C and sunny.

Rain coming tonight and Friday. The long weekend is going to turn a bit cooler but decent overall.

Rained and stormed later today, temp was upper fifties (F). Then the storm continued east over Lake Michigan, and became a beast. Some people in Michigan are getting hammered by it. I bet the center of the big spot is some nastiness.

A tornado was spotted on the ground outside of Paducah, KY. The governor has declared a pre-storm state of emergency.

24C right now, and still some light out. I like this time of year for that, it's short lived though but enjoy it while it lasts. Just went for a walk, didn't realize it was that hot out and had pants on. Just changed now and put on the AC, was overheating.

Too bad this nice weather won't last though, suppose to go back to the negatives by Monday. I might get a decent day tomorrow though, suppose to be 14C which is decent for getting work done.

Eastern Kentucky got hammered last night. 14 dead in the Commonwealth with Laurel County the worst hit. 😢 We had 60 mile an hour winds here at my house, but just a bunch of tree limbs and branches laying all over the yard.

That shit is scary AF when it's dark out!

Glad to hear you all missed the chaos. I was watching a youtuber last night as it happened last night and that tornado went on for like 60 miles. He said it was probably huge and that he was surprised they didn't upgrade it to a PDS at the time. It also looked another one dropped in behind it on a similar path with another one trying to form behind the 2nd. I'm watching damage videos right now and the damage is extreme. It must have been a nightmare scenario.

I'm at a point where I almost wish my house would get hit. I don't want to get hurt, so either when I'm not here, or enough to make it unrepairable, but not a total collapse where I'd be OK.

It's an old house, not in the best of condition and in a place I'm not the wildest about.

The insurance has it drastically overvalued and won't adjust it downward. With a total loss, I could take the payout and maybe rent somewhere for the rest of my days, which likely aren't many.

Either that, or rebuild very modestly on a different piece of land.

Dealing with insurance and the process of having the house fixed is no cup of tea. My parents went through it after a house fire, and it was not even a total loss. Dealing with a total loss, and losing all your stuff would suck hardcore. Think of all the memories, and work you put into it etc... all gone. No pay out is worth that really.

I remember last night thinking it's Saturday I will be able to sleep in.
1st call came at 130 am. Got back at 230am. Commercial power.
Our power went out at around 11pm, I lit a candle for each room, incase the grandaughters needed to you se the bathrrom.
Next call was at 730am. Had to veriify all of the power outages, Their reportimg, even billing systems went down., around 2am.
I was on my road, when call number 3 came for 9 modems offline. About 530pm. Was an hour drive to reach the location.
Damn node was on the ground, and the splietter before it was ripped apart. We got that in the air. Needs a cable replacement. Still not voltage to node. Had to climb up to get to 2 poles, second had bad tap plate. This was like halfway up side of hill, through thorn thickets. I got home at 945pm .

So much for Saturday. I will give Power co props, they did get most of our town restored today. Even though their main building was hit head on in the above video. 2 counties away.

-3 feels like -8. Although I'd say it feels even colder than that. It's the kind of cold that goes right through to the bones and feels very arctic.

I have a feeling we're going to get a shitty summer. Really not off to a good start so far. Got a couple nice days but they don't last.

Supposed to have more severe storms this afternoon down in the mid south, as if we haven't had enough of it so far. But prepared, got a new sump pump, got my hands on a super cheap generator so if the power goes out I can power it so my basement doesnt flood (knock on wood).

Potentially ANOTHER 2" of rain this weekend.

We're already an inch over normal officially for this month and many areas have seen MUCH more.

We're pretty close to 5" over normal for the year 'officially'. Some areas are 20" over normal.

Super cold and raining and just overall miserable. 8C but feels much colder. No real relief in sight either, we got teased with nice weather earlier in the month but it didn't last. I really hope June is going to be better.

It's 52F (11.1C) right now and will be 43F (6.1C) tonight. Very cool for this time of year. It's going to be in the 60's and lower 70's this week. We're having Canadian weather.
