It had been a while since we have experienced a hail storm, but one came through a couple of days ago. It was mostly nickel sized hail, with some quarter sized. The amount of hail was astounding, covered decks, drives, etc., which became solid white in just minutes, with a mix of shredded green leaves from the oaks, maples, and popular trees. Azalea and rhododendron bushes which were about peak bloom were totally trashed.
Cars were undercover, so no damage there, and the roof didn't sustain any damage. I thought the skylights were going to break any second, but they didn't suffer any damage. Temp dropped from 78F to 60F in less than 5 minutes.
But I think a baby bunny got caught out in the storm and was taken out by the hail. My dog found it several hours after the storm, not a mark on it, so it wasn't a neighborhood cat.
