As Hot Chips 34 starting this week, Intel will unveil technical information of upcoming Meteor Lake (MTL) and Arrow Lake (ARL), new generation platform after Raptor Lake. Both MTL and ARL represent new direction which Intel will move to multiple chiplets and combine as one SoC platform.

MTL also represents new compute tile that based on Intel 4 process which is based on EUV lithography, a first from Intel. Intel expects to ship MTL mobile SoC in 2023.

ARL will come after MTL so Intel should be shipping it in 2024, that is what Intel roadmap is telling us. ARL compute tile will be manufactured by Intel 20A process, a first from Intel to use GAA transistors called RibbonFET.

Intel Core Ultra 100 - Meteor Lake

As mentioned by Tomshardware, TSMC will manufacture the I/O, SoC, and GPU tiles. That means Intel will manufacture only the CPU and Foveros tiles. (Notably, Intel calls the I/O tile an 'I/O Expander,' hence the IOE moniker.)

Depends on Intel's definition of "similar"...

Can everyone including 511 just agree that Intel missed their targets again?

I mean, that's an official slide. They are not claiming better than LNL.

SIMILAR.

In 2026!

18A most probably a dud process again.

Intel RIP.

No wonder Pat got himself fired over this mess.

We need actual benchmarks to show it's marketing and I want to know how is it similar to ARL/LNL at the same time what are they even measuring lol FFs Intel get your stuff together.

Pat's Firing was not this it was something else lol it was mainly from what I know is his way of communication and him throwing billions at Fab without Customers.

I just hope there marketing got their act together no performance figure nothing like WTF your future depends on it.
Is it due to Tan to lower expectations and surprise us?

Btw @igor_kavinski
For PTL To be a success it should be:
  • PTL has LNL level Battery life or slightly lower due to absence of PMIC and higher ST Perf/watt.
  • ARL-H 45W MT perf at lower power probably around 30-35W.
  • 40-50% higher iGPU Perf.
  • Laptop's fan should not spin too much like LNL

Please elaborate on your thoughts. Efficiency is a combination of node, library, design, and frequency. What is wrong with having a similar efficiency to lunar lake but with more cores and higher frequency? You could always run PTL at lower clocks then and get significantly higher efficiency than lunar lake.

More cores is confirmed but they haven't said anything about higher frequency. If it really can hit higher frequency, they would be shouting from the rooftops instead of keeping quiet about it. Also, a company like Intel that now has Arrow Lake as a node agnostic design yet there are no plans of using 18A for Arrow Lake Refresh and hitting higher frequencies? Sounds problematic and sad to me.

LNL SKUs weren't released till it was near it's launch date so why should it be different this time.
It would be bad PR cause they can't fix the fundamental flaws of ARL-S with 18A it would require redesigning whole chip.

It's only K SKUs in the refresh so it would be the perfect vehicle to tout the advantages of their 18A process (comparable to N2 they said?). Unless...
No? even if it is better in PnP characteristics the platform sucks for ARL. It won't make it game faster it will just reduce the power consumption also Intel needs to get rid of DLVR there is no need for it on Desktop.

Keeping quiet about it?

At Intel Vision 2025: "Jim Johnson, Intel's head of client computing, told the assembled Intel Vision 2025 throng that Panther Lake, "combines the power efficiency of Lunar Lake, the performance of Arrow Lake,"

At Computex 2025: "Intel says the Panther Lake chips blend the power efficiency of Lunar Lake with the performance of Arrow Lake-H"
