The juxtaposition between Dwayne Hickman and Bob Denver in that show is wild. Denver could have been plucked from a 90s/00s sitcom.

Season 3 of Dobie Gillis is when the characters go to college, the previous seasons were first about highschool then the military.

'Maison Ikkoku' appears to be the first cartoon based in college, but there's no English version on YouTube, there's one in french but there's no subtitles.

The first "Western" cartoon series based in college was 'UnderGrads' which IS on YouTube.

I'm doing the world a favor and spreading Maison Ikkoku english dub. You can't find this anime anywhere in 2021.

I don't remember which episode, but in 'Dobie Gillis' there was a man who said "I make $9000 a year"....

My first reaction was YOU POOR MISERABLE SOUL!

But then I looked it up and the average salary in 1959 was $5010 XD
