He has every reason to be concerned and every right to protect himself. COVID infection gets more potentially dangerous the older a person gets.
I Never said he didn't have the right to be concerned or protect himself. He may even have health issues that put him at higher risk, he may have lost a loved one to covid. Doesn't change the tone of his post.

Did you wear a mask in public prior to covid if not being sick in general is that important to you?
I didn't wear masks in public prior to covid-19, but I had a stash of N95's already because I had an outdoor project in 2017 that took weeks and wildfires were raging not far from me. They came in handy in 2020. I bought more then but the prices quadrupled or more. They've come back down now. 3M's, the best I know of.

Years before the pandemic I used to see a lady who always walked around town masked. She was very noticeable that way. I assume she needed to for some reason. How times have changed!

I'm hoping an updated mRNA vaccine will be available come the fall. If not, I will be pissed. Non-doctor Junior doesn't like mRNA vaccines, so I hear.
Looks like the strain that is likely to be the next vaccine is LP8.1, not the NB1.8.1 that is in that article.

Our new leaders want to skip the independent review panel and go straight to only allowing vaccines for those with pre-existing conditions. You know, a political decision, which is exactly what independent review panels are supposed to avoid. Maybe the review panel would also decide that they are only for pre-existing conditions, maybe not. But, looks like politics will win over any possibility of scientific discussions.

However, the pre-existing conditions can cover just about anyone. Just claim that you have physical inactivity. https://www.cdc.gov/covid/hcp/clinical-care/underlying-conditions.html
For me, I'll claim that I'm on an immunosuppressant medication--which is true but probably unrelated to Covid.

I think they already pulled pregnancy from that list for COVID booster eligibility. Still waiting to see if you can just attest to the pharmacist that you quality or if you need an MD's sign off. Given that the real goal here is to overall reduce vaccine usage through all barriers available I suspect it might be the latter.

I suppose if you're old enough you'd qualify for preexisting condition, right?

My impression of Trump 2.0 so far is that there's precious little that isn't just plain wrong.

I thought it was people over 65 and those with pre-existing conditions.
I see "Smoking, current and former" is on the link there, maybe that's my ticket (former smoker).

FTFY.

Guess I can lean on my PCP to sign off.
