In what was obviously a bid for attention or to incite an incident ICE raided one of the best known Italian restaurants in San Diego on a Friday night. In full tactical gear and using flash bangs on the crowd. The median home price in this neighborhood is about $1.5M.

https://bsky.app/profile/cwebbonline.com/post/3lqhtbi6uz22x

To be fair, a $1.5M house in a handful of SD neighborhoods is like an 800 sq ft "tear down".

Again, I dare anyone to deny that this is simply who we are as a country. Reports of Trump's unpopularity are greatly exaggerated.

You don't need to worry about Trump canceling elections. At this rate he will easily win outright. Or whoever the GOP nominee is. Yeah I know, "wait until the voters see ____."

The voters have already seen it all, and his approval rating is only going up lol.

Priceless. Plane wasn't a gift, Trump asked for it

Doha wants it in writing that the plane was a demand before finalizing the transfer. Trump is trying to sell it to the public as a gift. If he won't put it in writing they are going to handle it as a Sale - either pay for it or return it.
Yeppers, trump is a prolific liar because he knows the Truth will make him out to be the Pansy he happens to be...

It looks like Trump has decided to sink Isaacman's nomination for NASA Administrator. Isaacman wasn't enough of a bootlicker for Donald.

Trump pulls Isaacman nomination for space. Source: “NASA is f***ed

Now? "NASA is f---ed," one current leader in the agency's science directorate told Ars on Saturday.

"NASA's budget request is just a going-out-of-business mode without Jared there to innovate," a former senior NASA leader said.

Trump unloads on Rand Paul for opposing his "Big, beautiful bill"

Grandpa the Mad King : - "The GROWTH we are experiencing"

Trump's imaginary growth. Sort of like his imaginary trade deals and imaginary victories.

Trump is experiencing growth. His grift as president has doubled his wealth. In his mind, what's good for him is obviously good for the country.

So, now we have a ruling class, a ruling race, and a ruling religion ... everything we're not supposed to have. All the problems America is facing will be solved when Trump is dead and gone and after the Dems, as usual, clean up the mess Trump and his spineless fellow traitors have left. If they ever can.

Dems polling at 29% while Trump approaching a staggering (in this day and age) 47%.

The country doesn't seem to mind. At least not enough.

Think this is also a sign of Musk's declining influence in the admin. He has also promised Trump at least a $100M donation to his political operation that has yet to be made...non zero chance SpaceX's contracts might get squeezed if he doesn't cough it up.

SpaceX NASA contracts are already going to get squeezed because of NASA budget cuts.

SpaceX Contract to launch gateway gone now that Gateway is planned to be canceled and with the need for DragonXL for re-supply.
Nancy Roman Telescope launch could be canceled if this space telescope is canceled.
Pullback on ISS crew rotation.
Not to mention pull back on the Artemis program could impact future buys of HLS.

DOD contracts could increase because it looks like Trump is seeking to militarize space even more. So far it seems that neither Blue Origin or ULA are up to the task of seriously competing against SpaceX.

Nah, real science will continue elsewhere.

New Rome is busy being sacked by New Vandals. Same shit, different millenium.

This. If you are an American scientist and seek to flee Team Treason's war on science, facts and academia, France has open arms.

I checked in with some old NIH friends recently. Both are in the midst of relocating to Toronto and Lyon, France. Others from same place have already done the jump. Life for the NIH, NCI and the private contractors that work for them has really been hell lately.

Default is inevitable. America is broke and must live on debt just to survive.

That or tax the rich...and the rich simply will not let that happen.

taxing the rich is appropriate given they have the lowest tax rate in American history. Trump keeps talking about the good ol days but what the old days good is the higher taxes on the Rich.

We don't need the consent of the rich.

And if the rich did not occupy most of Congress and sit in White House we might have a say. Unfortunately, Congress would rather look after special interests who keep them in power, fund their campaigns and allow them to buy stock prior to even more favorable tax policies for the industries are announced or the government awards them big contracts (see Palantir). Its not against the law and there are no term limits in Congress.

But lets say you try to stand up against powerful interests and their lobbying. Now you have to withstand extreme pressure from all your colleagues in Congress and Trump himself who will select you for public ridicule until you finally relent.

Even when the Democrats controlled the WH and Congress we still wound up with low taxes on the rich, deficit spending and even the carried interest loophole survived because two members insisted it survive despite Congress finally ready to do away with it.

This is why we cannot have nice things or even a balanced budget.

The problem is that no other country spends even close to what the NIH and NSF does.

At the end of the day, the US is sacrificing a whole lot of soft power and a huge generator of economic returns for literally nothing. Just a huge act of punching ourselves over and over again in the balls.

Yep and in 10 years (if trump is still alive) he will blame the 'current' president for destorying NIH and NSF ignoring the fact that he was the one who actually caused the damage. I really hate that worthless asshole.

I don't understand how CEO's aren't tired of the yo yo pendulum extremes by now and aren't actually thinking of moving their fortune500 companies overseas like Halliburton did.

You would think biotech CEOs might be more outspoken, given the damage being done to their industry, but it seems that people are either keeping quiet because the nail gets the hammer, or their incentives are all fucked up because it's only about quarterly profits.
