Doesn't really sound that impressive when you realise that Amazon employs 1.5mil folk.

Whats more impressive is if you calculate the profit (net income of $59.2 billion in 2024) per employee... which is just under $USD40k. From that perspective, Bezos would still be sitting very pretty if half the profits went to the employees as bonuses or whatever.

But he doesn't need to. There is nothing forcing him. Neither legally, politically or morally. Unlimited capitalism.

when Bezos was the wealthiest man, there was a nice online tracker that kept stock of his wealth and set landmarks for the cost of things.

I recall that ridding the world of Malaria, and "solving" world hunger was something like his monthly income at the time, which he was predicted to recover completely in about 2 months time, if he ever had the notion to spend money on such evil and selfish pursuits.
