You could say the FDA is a little... compromised.
Holistic foods to cure diabetics, doctors hate this one trick!

Is anti-insulin the next anti-vax movement?

RFK Jr.’s FDA chief says diabetics should take cooking classes instead of insulin

The head of the Federal Drug Administration under Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has claimed that diabetics should get a recipe book instead of insulin.
FDA Commissioner Marty Makary appeared on Sunday Futures on Fox News to make these comments.
"Maybe we need to treat more diabetes with cooking classes, not just throwing insulin at people," Makary, a COVID-19 vaccine skeptic, said.

Dr. Mike puts out video calling for RFK Jr. to immediately resign. This is good. Inspired me to email my congress woman, not something I'm prone to.

I have trouble getting to sleep so I have this radio program I set the sleeper on for about 30 minutes. The program is Coast to Coast AM although it's on the local FM station. Anyway, it's mostly conspiracy bullshit with a few (very few) good nuggets mixed in. Anyway, anything political is just crazy right wing conspiracy shit which I usually just turn off. The worst thing the program does is put out the most ridiculous health misinformation and the clowns are also selling their snake oil. The last one was about how the food industry is switching out our bodies copper for iron, or is it iron for copper through the use of super processed foods. Does it really matter? When it's just a bunch of snake oil bullshit. I just wonder if people are actually buying 1/10 of the bs they put out every night.
Misinformation on the media will destroy us if there is no critical thinking about what you are listening to.

Here's his op-ed on it:
Today, we are taking a bold step in restoring public trust by totally reconstituting the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP). We are retiring the 17 current members of the committee, some of whom were last-minute appointees of the Biden administration. Without removing the current members, the current Trump administration would not have been able to appoint a majority of new members until 2028.
...
A clean sweep is needed to re-establish public confidence in vaccine science. In the 1960s, the world sought guidance from America’s health regulators, who had a reputation for integrity, scientific impartiality and zealous defense of patient welfare. Public trust has since collapsed, but we will earn it back.
LOL
He does make arguments in favor of his action, but being as he's been shown to be full of shit in the past, I'm not taking any of those claims at face value from someone who eats roadkill and swims in sewage water.

Yea, and this:

In a twist of irony that only conservatives would believe, the guy who has been eroding trust in vaccine science is the guy who claims he will restore trust in vaccine science.

Its not surprising, its the play in other ways. Eg - trumps fascist america will restore america to its former glory.

This one is not behind a paywall

So now Trump gets to appoint people to this panel! Let's see, Dr. Oz, Dr. Phil, the Texas 'Demon Sperm' doctor that said the COVID vaccine could be expelled by invoking the name of Jesus.
There must be some witch doctors that would love to serve, should they contact Trump or RFK?

Trump has taken the country back to the equivalent of 1938 Germany.

RFK Jr. is taking the country's disease control back to 1346 in Europe.

It's beautiful isn't it??

I fucking absolutely love them playing Russian Roulette.. the trick is not to get in the line of fire though!

Basically MAGA are gonna get sick and die and you don't have to do anything besides vaccinate yourself!

It's almost poetic justice.. how they wiped out natives with diseases.. hopefully something wipes them out and quickly!

Until, getting vaccinated requires international travel, as they have been banned, or resorting to some back alley vaccine dealers.

Next thing we know, they are going to be tracking the vaccines we receive like they want to track the menstrual cycles of women from age 12 to 50.

Might I suggest listening to the Shipping Forecast from BBC4? It's a LOT more pleasant.

There are also some recordings of this on youtube where people have stitched together hours of forecasts.

Surprise surprise, what everyone feared would happen with RFK Jr. as Health Secretary has in fact happened. Your kids’ vaccines will have to be formulated without thimerosal. While this doesn’t prevent drug makers from making vaccines or your insurance from covering vaccines, it will lead to supply chain issues and ultimately reduced vaccine availability and higher insurance premiums. We know what happens next—fewer parents will want to deal with the hassle of vaccinating their kids (especially people of color/poor/rural/less educated)

So many stupid games being played:
- Kennedy fired all 17 former members of the panel in June, citing “conflicts of interest”, and appointed eight new members, all of whom are ideological allies of the secretary.
- None of the new members have published written conflict of interest disclosures or been added to a Trump administration-developed conflict of interest tracker for ACIP members, as of Thursday morning.
- Repeated, large studies conducted across several countries have found no association between thimerosal and neurological effects. A presentation from CDC career scientists that was initially expected to go through some of this substantial data was removed before the panel reconvened on Thursday.
- The panel instead heard a presentation from Lyn Redwood, a nurse practitioner who founded the World Mercury Project, the predecessor to Kennedy’s anti-vaccine advocacy group Children’s Health Defense. Prior to the meeting, her presentation was found to include a reference to a study that appeared to be made up.

This is true, but we shouldn’t downplay this as “much ado about nothing”. Those of us who are well off and have employer-funded health insurance and get free shots at the doctor’s office probably won’t see much of an impact.

But those who are underinsured or uninsured, and rely on getting cheap jabs at pharmacies and grocery stores or “minute clinics” at off hours because they can’t get off work during the day will probably be impacted. I’m guessing that’s where the 5% of multidose vials containing thimerosal are most often used.

The bigger issue may likely be how the ACIP panel was rigged to arrive at this decision with zero basis in fact or science.
