Turned the Pacers Thunder game off at the beginning of the 4th quarter because I thought the game was over.
I was lucky enough to catch the last 3 minutes of it. Unbelievable.

Not my FWP but got a call from the wife. My stepson went golfing with a bunch of his buddies and the driver of his cart rolled it. I'm assuming he was turning and the cart ended up over my stepson. He's got road rash on his forehead and a blackeye. I couldn't help but laugh over the phone, and my wife kept saying it's not funny. Yes dear, it is funny. Dude's 26. Pretty sure alcohol was involved. Pretty sure I'm in trouble when I get home now. Maybe it is a FWP for me now. Damnit!!

Yes dear, it is funny.
It is but don't tell her that to her face. You'll be in trouble!

Women often don't get things that make us laugh. A friend once got bitten by a bee on the way to visiting me on a motorcycle. His whole face was ridiculously swollen. I couldn't help laughing at him. He didn't stay long. I probably hurt his feelings that day. Wish we had smartphones in those days because I could've taken a selfie with him and shown him later just how ridiculous he looked.

Why is it that the tiny, teensy-weensy, screws used in electronic gadget housings and the like, have such an incredible capacity to disappear if you drop one (or it falls off the end of your insufficiently-magnetised screwdriver)? Lost so many of the things over the years - you just hear them go 'tap-tap' as they hit the surface of the desk or table and bounce, and you look down and there's no sign of them. Occasionally, scrabbling around on the floor for hours (a longer time than the things are worth, of course, but one has to fit in a lot of swearing and cursing and invocations of the Gods) will lead to finding one of them (probably _not_ the one you just dropped, but maybe the one you dropped last week), but most of the time they just disappear into some hole in the fabric of the universe and are never seen again.

The screws that hold M2 drives are in a league of their own. Popular Mechanics, circa 1995: "Scientists at MIT report that they were able to carve a functional screw using the beam of an electron microscope. The researchers say that the screws could find uses in future computer assembly."

Did it fall inside the power supply, ready to cause a fire? In a fan?

I lost about an hour when I built my Ryzen because of this. Damn screw fell into the mobo and got lodged somewhere. I frantically turned it over many times and shook it like hell. In the end, I resorted to bumping the case with the mobo inside it, against the floor, in the hope of getting the screw lose. Nothing happened. I was extremely agitated because I wanted to boot the system on THAT day and didn't want to risk a short circuit because of that damn screw. I was at my wit's end and considering dismantling everything to find the screw when suddenly it came out. Just like that. I literally thanked God from the bottom of my heart.

Driver's side blend door actuator has gone bad for the 4th time since I bought my 2013 Impala in late 2017. I hear this for 30 seconds every time I start it up.

I finally got the chance to terminate the outlet I posted about earlier. It turned a little rough as I kept having to make the hole a little bigger while working on that pull, but it's good enough for the girls I go out with.

Next time I get the caulk gun out I'll just run a bead of caulk around it while I already have a tube open. Landlord special.

And yeah it's not aligned with the post, it was kinda a dilemma, do I line it up with the post, or the pattern in the soffit. Opted to go with the pattern, I need to insert a block and some plywood it there to make up for the thickness and have something to screw the outlet into and trying to install it right in the groove would make for a more messy install. Eventually going to build out a faux beam between all posts. Looks good from the street.

If this was a government job I'd be the lowest bidder and this would be a 100k job easy.

I performed manual labor and got a blister. I’m a knowledge worker, damn it!

The labor produced a successful outcome: the sotol stalk is no more.

I tried out this method for burning images onto CD-Rs.

It looked straight forward but my result was less than ideal - no image on the CD. So I read the fine print. Every brand and model of CD blank is different and one has to tweak parameters to determine the geometry of each CD blank model, burning many discs to find the correct parameters. The author says that this is why he threw in the towel on the project. I will try again using blanks of one of the brands the author already calibrated.

Had to call in for jury duty last night, but also had a budget workshop for city council. So I had the wife call to find out if I needed to report. When I got home, she showed me that she attempted to call 3x last night, all calls between 6-9pm, and all 3x she got a recording saying it was too late to call (even though the summons says call "the week of" and the lines are available 24 hours. I called first thing this morning at 6am and the line says I failed to appear now. WTF?!!!! I guess the summons is going in the trash(?)

I just don't show up, and it's always worked out. Probably depends on how many people they typically get. If it's a glut like it is around here, they probably don't care. The times I did show up, I was never selected.

The way they do it now in my county is pretty nice, you get a letter with your number on it and you check the website in the morning to see if you need to go in. Last time I got a notice they called in new people for a few days and then said no more were needed. My number never came up so I didn't even have to go in.

Ugh, so monkey.

My wife got a *federal* grand jury summons in February. It comes with a form here that you can fill out stating any reason you have for not replying or attending. One of those reasons says if you take care of a disabled family member you are excused. Wife checked the box that she does so because she takes care of my wheelchair bound fat white ass and returned the form in the allotted time.

May arrives and the correspondence comes in the mail that she is required to report!! The instructions also give the phone-in instructions for the day of… TF?!?

So she tries calling to leave a message asking for a call back… crickets.

Next day, same thing.

At this juncture I guess we're just waiting for a failure to appear warrant.
