I thought this was an AI fake, but MSM outlets have picked this up claiming he said it on Fox and Friends.

If so, this is just more white boy incompetence and/or stupidity from this administration.

I mean, /tinfoilhat, spacex has been hauling stuff up there for a few years now, and we've got spaceplanes large enough to take humans up under their own power at this point. You'd have to hide the actual assembly and transfer from orbit to moon, but why even have a sun if you can't hide in its glare?

I can't help but think of the mission in Wolfenstein: The New Order, when you infiltrate the Nazi lunar base. Maybe he saw some screen shots of the game and thought it was real.

Disappointingly, this, mentioned in the linked article, seems by far the most likely explanation (rather than the existence of a top-secret moonbase).

"Trump appointee is a dimwit" is not nearly as exciting an explanation as a super-secret space conspiracy, dammit.

Driscoll's comment appears to have confused the moon with NASA's International Space Station (ISS) as he spoke to Army Colonel Anne McClain, a NASA astronaut currently stationed aboard the ISS this week.
