The weather in my city is crazy. We were still getting some some in May which rarely happens and got a few hail storms which are even rarer here. In the summer it can be 100F+ for several days or weeks straight, we get severe thunderstorms that cause flash flooding and dust storms. In the winter we can have storms with 2-3 days in a row with 12-18 inches of snow, it can snow in the morning at be warm enough to melt the snow in the evening and we get freezing fog that's like little pieces of floating ice that gets in your eyes. 14-15 years ago in the summer it was in the upper 70s and out of nowhere it got really windy and the temp dropped to the 30s. It snowed heavily for around an hour then the temp went back to the 70s and all the snow rapidly melted. Normally storms can be seen forming and dissipating on weather radar but this one appeared out of thin air as a fully formed storm moving at 25-30mph and after a few hours moving east instantly vanished for the radar.

Fast rain like that doesn't help drought. It just runs off.

Drought ends with long term soaking rains, which unfortunately can lead to flooding.

It's pretty disgusting, but a 110 degree dry heat isn't anywhere near as bad as 100 degree heat when you get a dewpoint around 80, which we had for a few days in late June 2023. With all the rain San Antonio got last week it'll probably happen again in our first big late June or early July heat dome this year. Those 100/80 days have heat indices pushing well into the 120s.

The only time I've ever come close to experiencing that is walking into a server room or central office that had a failed AC unit in middle of July. Can't imagine what it would be like if it's that temp outside.

Thunderstorms have been rolling through here for the last 2 hours. Apparently some more are on the way.

Rainy and pleasant here today in Central Illinois. Temps hovered around 72F/22C for most of the day and we got around 2.5 inches/6cm of rain according to my very inaccurate but really kinda cute rain gauge.

After a week of rain and storms, we start a week of mid to upper 90s.

95/75 for most of the next week.

The 75 is what kills me. The nights don't cool off, so once things get warm one day, they don't cool off and just get warmer the next day.

I like to open the windows at night which helps the house cool and stay cool part of the next day. The works well when nights fall into the 60s like this morning's 64. Not so well when they stay in the 70s.

Pool water is already in the low 80s and by Monday or Tuesday, it will just be wet, not refreshing.

It's only 1,000 gallons, so I could drain some and add tap water, but to what end? It'll just warm the next day.
