This is the first one my mom (retired 20+ year military veteran) and sister participated in.
Hell yeah. I haven’t participated yet, but hopeful I will soon.

If Trump is not stopped cold in the mid-terms by the democrats gaining a super majority in both houses, there may never be a 2028 election.Mary Trump figures he won't pack up and leave. I've seen it suggested he'll manufacture a crisis to make it appear necessary for him to remain. Or just a false flag one.
It should be patently obvious based on all the attempted cheating in the 2020 election that they would at the very least attempt to cheat again in 2024.I read this substack today. While it made for a interesting read. I really don't know what to say because of all 2020 MAGA Election deniers.
She Won. They Didn't Just Change the Machines. They Rewired the Election.

But, even if we did find multiple smoking guns adequate to overturn the election based on incontrovertible evidence that the election was stolen, they're already in charge and you can be 100% certain they would not leave peacefully. Would not be a pretty result, but might not be uglier than the future we already potentially have before us. I don't know. Guess it depends on how much of the military would hold fast to their oath?
If all that got some truth to it ... AND you manage to wiggle your way out of this autocratic grab... Someone(s) head(s) is going on the chopping block. Not saying Elmo or Thiel.. I am saying Elmo AND Thiel.I read this substack today. While it made for a interesting read. I really don't know what to say because of all 2020 MAGA Election deniers.

Kimmel's not yuking it up here.Fox News is to be avoided by anybody hoping to live a meaningful life. They have sold their souls to the Devil.
Jimmy Kimmel is incensed. He's beyond trying to make people laugh at what's going on, he's righteously pissed off. I know where he's coming from. I grew up in L.A., I witnessed The Free Speech Movement inside and out. Repression and mendacity. Ronald Reagan got in on the feast.
2:46? Way too long for the average american to ingest :/
It’s the perfect crime — spend four years making up bullshit and screeching about the stolen election, then actually do it because every accusation is a confession. You’ve successfully turned the stolen election narrative into a nut job conspiracy theory in the meantime.I read this substack today. While it made for a interesting read. Great claims require great evidence. And unless a journalistic outfit is willing to put their name on the line, or it's proven in court, then it's just more YouTube conspiracy theory grade content. It’s the perfect crime — spend four years making up bullshit and screeching about the stolen election, then actually do it because every accusation is a confession. The Ohio drop off statistics as presented in that article do look pretty fucked up, like some shitty algorithm designed to flip a certain number of presidential votes as a function of downballot senate votes. Maybe we’ll get the truth, there is a real lawsuit proceeding in one county in NY already alleging manipulated ballot counting.

Given the info I heard about the Republicans trying to influence the 2024 general outcome in many ways since long before it happened, the sweep of swing states had me wondering if their shenanigans didn't actually deliver Trump's victory. It’s the perfect crime — spend four years making up bullshit and screeching about the stolen election, then actually do it because every accusation is a confession. I would love if they picked a weekend again. Getting into DC (for me) on a weekday is a challengeKeeping the momentum going.

Republicans have won elections for decades because they've successfully convinced rubes to vote against their self-interests. I don't disagree that power of the purse still matters, but what difference would a recession make? OK, so we flip the House in 2026, which is important. Unfortunately, this summer, the GOP still passes its reconciliation bill which polls very poorly amongst the entire electorate.* We're still cooked in the Senate and SCOTUS, and right now we don't know who we will run in 2028.I think boycotting the economy would be more effective. This admin isn't going to change because of protests. They would care if people quit buying stuff they didn't need for an extended period of time. The only power we have now is how we vote with our wallets. If we make the economy and businesses hurt then they have to pay attention. I would love to see this years prime day flop.
Interesting but I don't think it's going to matter to those in power. He hasn't cared about us for 9 years. They have no interest in governing us. It's what he and his billionaire friends and project 2025 want and they are shoving it down everyone's throats.Republicans have won elections for decades because they've successfully convinced rubes to vote against their self-interests. * Not only is it broadly unpopular, the legislation could be ruinous for a very long time. Some things, such as our reputational damage to NATO, may never be fixed.
Americans don't seem politically active enough (I've never attended a rally), but some academics have modeled that nonviolent protests are surprisingly effective. It's called the 3.5% rule.
The '3.5% rule': How a small minority can change the world
Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.www.bbc.com
In terms of the specific strategies that are used, general strikes “are probably one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, single method of nonviolent resistance”, Chenoweth says. But they do come at a personal cost, whereas other forms of protest can be completely anonymous. She points to the consumer boycotts in apartheid-era South Africa, in which many black citizens refused to buy products from companies with white owners. The result was an economic crisis among the country’s white elite that contributed to the end of segregation in the early 1990s.
Their base has already been well-trained to reject the evidence of their eyes and ears. May prove challenging to work past that.Interesting but I don't think it's going to matter to those in power. From your link:
We need to hurt them like Ukraine is hurting russia. They only care about money so it's the obvious target. Less money also equals less power.
Do you really see them caring if 3.5% of us are protesting? They control the narrative their voters see. Counter protests will lead to violence and it will be our fault in their warped little minds. He's also itching to turn the cops or national guard on us which would be a mistake IMHO.
The only other way out is to turn their base against them. The message part is easy. Getting the message in front of them is the hard part.

So the part you quoted concurs with you that protestors will have to cause some economic pain throughout the economy to make a difference. It's not about "making our voices heard" if the GQP DGAF about its own constituents, much less the half of society that vigorously opposes their policies. It's not about protesting for protests sake, or getting on the nightly news.Interesting but I don't think it's going to matter to those in power. He hasn't cared about us for 9 years. FWIW I didn't ignore the rest of the article you posted. I get that peaceful protests can make a difference but what we are up against is anything but your typical takeover. How do we compete with billionaires spending millions installing their own personal politicians? Or a president that won't say he will uphold the constitution or law. They are using money against us so we return the favor. So the part you quoted concurs with you that protestors will have to cause some economic pain throughout the economy to make a difference. Like I said, I'm not even sure how it's applied to the U.S., but massive social unrest and a recession could indeed get the attention of CEOs and business execs. The lesson of the Vietnam War is somewhat applicable. The U.S. wasn't necessarily losing on the battlefield, but it lost when the public decided we had no business over there.
Also keep in mind that in any recession, CEOs will just mass lay off people. Sure their short term profits will suffer, as will share prices, but the average person will absorb more real pain. I actually don't disagree that we should exercise our power of the purse (see the recent boycotts of Target), but there are no silver bullets.
