Why, Ted Cruz, for one! Here's Carlson absolutely pulling Cruz's pants down and pointing!
Why, Ted Cruz, for one! Here's Carlson absolutely pulling Cruz's pants down and pointing!
Carlson has a good point though that Cruz seems to know almost nothing about a country he's looking to invade. It is frankly shameful that he's the one asking these questions and not real journalists.Cruz is right (can't believe I'm saying this) about the population of Iran not mattering in the context of the discussion. Whether it's 90M or 50M or 200M, the current issue would be the same no matter which is true.
Everything after that is just two hyenas screeching at each other.

That being said his motive for doing so is most likely to support Russia's interests because, well, he's a Russian asset.
There has been a VERY serious regression, I agree. As per Jon Stewart's long standing criticism the goal of modern journalism is to find conflict and write about how people are arguing, not to inform their audience or examine issues.Mainstream journalists not asking the simplest most basic questions about the realities of what the hawks are proposing and instead having pundits only bat around the domestic political question shows they have learned less than nothing in the last 20 years. In fact they seem to have regressed substantially.

While Cruz is not a good interviewer Carlson also did something here that mainstream journalists almost never do, which is he didn't allow Cruz to ignore the question. I couldn't possibly count how many times a mainstream journalist has asked someone an important question and then when they bullshit around it just surrender and move on.
The sentiment seems to be that if you keep asking that same question they will either end the interview or keep repeating a non-answer, in which case you won't be able to talk about anything else.Yes the total lack of follow up and holding somebody to a question and not moving on is epidemic even if the interviewee says something absolutely you should be in a rubber room insane.
Agree in general.Carlson has a good point though that Cruz seems to know almost nothing about a country he's looking to invade. It is frankly shameful that he's the one asking these questions and not real journalists.

I agree - I think one underappreciated reason why Republicans have so much difficulty governing is that almost no one in the party has any real policy knowledge as they are, as you say, just basically trolls. Being able to legislate is simply not a relevant qualification for being a Republican legislator.Agree in general.
I tend to think Cruz doesn't know much about anything except podcasting and being a troll. In this case though, we didn't really get to see much of that for ourselves as Tucker appeared to be more interested in just talking over whatever it was that Cruz was frustratingly trying to spit out. He did manage to squeeze out that it's a Persian/Shia country which is actually correct. It looked worse than it actually was, likely because Cruz isn't used to this level of pressure or follow up from whoever has been throwing him softballs for the last decade.
They can both eat shit though.
Perhaps Qatar’s biggest victory in its post-election right-wing media campaign thus far was securing an interview between Tucker Carlson and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani in March. The interview, which has raked up nearly six million views across X and YouTube, was friendly, with Carlson praising the country.
Qatar paid top dollar to ensure this interview took place. Foreign Agents Registration Act records show that Lumen8 Advisors LLC, a legal consulting company for which very little public information is available, helped facilitate between Carlson and the Qatari dignitary. The Embassy of the State of Qatar pays Lumen8 Advisors $180,000 per month “to provide media and communication coaching and consulting services.”
It's a harsh reality being underpinned by this absence.Mainstream journalists not asking the simplest most basic questions about the realities of what the hawks are proposing and instead having pundits only bat around the domestic political question shows they have learned less than nothing in the last 20 years. In fact they seem to have regressed substantially.
