So, my brother (6 years older than me) died of lung cancer some years ago, 3 months post-diagnosis. It was a rather aggressive type of lung cancer. He'd had lung cancer surgery 5 years previous and he'd figured he'd "beaten it." Maybe, but another came along that slew him. Bummer, I miss him more than everybody else I know who's died.
I told my doctor and as a precaution he had me get a chest x-ray 15 years ago: NORMAL
I saw a doctor yesterday and mentioned all this and she had me x-rayed, telling me she could almost guarantee it would be normal. Got a message that the result was abnormal. It said what they saw might be a shadow, so they had me get another "oblique" set of x-rays today. This time they put little (~2cm) stickers on my nipples. The result is that they think the 1cm possible nodule they saw yesterday was probably a shadow of my left nipple! Duh! Why didn't they use the stickers to begin with? I guess some people would think it's weird to put stickers on their nipples.
