I seemed to have cracked 1 memory chip removing heat spreaders. They were 28CAS 32x2, now the damage is done. Would you replace with 26CAS 32x2 or go with 48 gb sticks?
No, I will try it when I get the new ones and the HSF fitted. I have a gut feeling, like the time a tried removing a Ti4800 (? was a long time ago) and it's HSF was epoxied to the die, I scratched the PCB. Killed it.Did you try booting with it?

They should run cooler and overclock better if this is the case.
I can attest to them overclocking better. My 7200 48GB kit effortlessly overclocks to 8200 on my 245KF. But that's where it stops being good. The previous 8200 EXPO 32GB kit allowed me to set D2D to 34. The 48GB kit is somehow limiting me to barely 30 D2D. Let's try again I guess: No, I wouldn't boot anything other than a cheap spare mobo with this cracked chip. It may work. Who knows but wouldn't risk it with expensive hardware.
