Interesting... so just to recap, you are saying that if I want to NOT Disable Crossfire and to extend my desktop across 2 monitors, I will need this adapater?
Do I need just one? And what would my connections look like ?
2 x 6950
22 " = DVI
17 " = DVI
TV = HDMI
Perhaps that is my first mistake. Currently I have all 3 going to the same card, DVI, DVI and HDMI.
So are you saying I should maybe to DVI, DVI to card 1 and HDMI to card 2?
I'm at work at the moment or else I'd just try it then find out :)
What do you mean by an active DP adapter?
Hi guys,
I have 2x 6950s in Xfire mode and I have 3 monitors (22", 17" and HDMI TV).
The 22" is the primary monitor and I'd like to extend my desktop to the 17" and the HDMI TV.
I don't want to game on 3 monitors, just extend desktop, so I don't think the eyefinitty thing is what I'm...
So I know of this website that streams live sports, which is neat and all, but I'd like to have a way to capture that stream so I can view it later, in case I can't be home to view the live feed.
Does anyone know of any software that accomplishes this without quality loss, or without...
This should work I think.... what z68 board would you recommend? Lets say the budget increases to $500ish... maybe even $550ish, which I might be able to talk him into if the build has future potential.
That's an interesting thought.
So O'clock the current CPU and perhaps drop some dough on this card?

I appreciate the advice, but I want to make something very clear...
He has no desire to play this on MAX settings. I'm just looking for something that can get him playing on a mixture of HIGH / Medium... even 100% Medium would probably be acceptable.
So is the general concencious here that a new MOBO / CPU combo is mandatory?
If he just dropped an old quad in there with a nicer GPU it would not cut it?
This is for my friends PC and I potentially have a PSU to spare... but are we saying that just upgrading to a quad core and GPU would not be enough for this rig?
If I go with an AMD CPU wouldn't that also mean a MOBO upgrade?
Definitely not shooting for ULTRA, that I know is out of the budget...
Hi guys!
The PC in question:
GA-EP35-DS3R - http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2743#sp
CPU Intel Core 2 DUO E6550
4 GB Ram
Old video card that need not be mentioned
500W PSU
THE GOAL: Play BF3 on the highest possible settings that the budget will allow...
^^^^^^^^ This is a must have if you plan on playing UFO Defense today. That link should point you to the mod that allows you to open doors without walking through them among other useful things.
Also you can get the music from the PSX version of the game which is FAR superior to the PC...
So I figured it out..
You have to swap the monitors in the catalyst center and then set the one you want as primary.
So right click and say swap then swap with the other one, that will swap the numbers, then set the one you want as primary. Seemed to do the trick.
I should have been more clear, my bad.
Basically I want the 22" to be the number 1 monitor and the 17" to be the number 2 monitor when I ask them to show me how they are identified.
I swap the connections and it still makes the "17 the number 1 monitor.
Both are DVI connectoins...
I have two monitors, one is a 22" wide screen the other is a 17" regular screen.
I re-formatted my system and now system is determined to use the 17" as the primary and the 22" as extended by default.
I know I can tell it ot make the 22" primary through the Catalyst software, but even if I...
Get your hands on an AA vehicle. You can dominate with it, especially if you are an engineer and you can hop out and repiar yourself.
Planet yourself behind some obsticles so you are hard to spot by ground troups.
So I just installed my new 240GB Mushkin Chronos Deluxe.
My thoughts... HOLY MOTHER FCKING SHT!!! ARE YOU FCKING KIDDING ME?!?! Did anyone get the license plaet number of the flying saucer that dropped off this magnificent piece of technology before it blasted its way out of the galaxy...
Hmm... I do hear that OCZ support is nice though.
I'm not huge on data loss personally, I don't really keep anything on a PC that I can't lose, so its not my main concern, but it would be nice if it didn't break :)
But it sounds as if this drive stays at the same price that it would be a...
Well I'm a gamer and don't really wanna start juggling games back and forth between drives, I want some breathing room to maybe have 5 or 6 games installed at once that I might bounce between, and that can add up very quick.
Hey thanks a lot for the reply :)
I'm still on the fence on if I want to do this or not, but starting to lean towards it. I'll probably wait to see how my current platter HDD tests out, its having some bad sectors but not necessarily toast by any stretch.
Either way, is it safe to assume...
Maybe I'm looking at the wrong Crucial M4, but I see it for $339 vs the OCZ Agility (not vertex) which is about $270 + $30 gift card for new egg...
I do see that the OCZ Vertex is more in line with the Crucial M4, but what is the significant difference... will I notice it?
Either way, I'm...

I guess I'm ready to jump into the SSD pool, and while I wish these were cheaper, I can live with the price on this one.
The reviews are mostly very positive if the new FW is used, or some just ship with it I believe...
I'm kinda considering this drive:

My MOBO has SATA 3GB... is that a bottle neck for this drive? Should I be thinking of a new MOBO?
Specs for MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131400
I've already...
Nah, this is a clean install, I have nothing on here that I care about, I'm just wondering what my best attack plan should be... so I think I will:
1. Run the WD utility and have it detect and fix all my bad sectors. Then I can see what % of the drive that entails. If the % is too much and...
So I ran the WD software but once again these scans take so long that I couldn't let it finish, but it did find bad sectors.
I will make the time to do a full test and have it "fix" the bad sectors, but what is the best course of action after I fix bad sectors, do I just re-install any software...
I don't know about SMART, how does that work? I feel as if I had SMART enabled in the BIOS I would BSOD on bootup, but its been a while. Should it work, does it depend on my HD?
Unfortunately the WD support site was down when I tried to look for one and had forgotten to check again... I'll...
Thanks for the quick replies, here is more info on all of that good stuff:
1. I formated and merged my 2 partitions so now I have plenty of free space, about 400 GBs on the C drive.
2. I've also added an external USB 3.0 2 TB drive as my secondary.
I looked into the SSD thing, but I don't see...
Was running a windows install for about 6 or 7 months, and I did not have lots of space at all and was starting to get file errors and the system was recomending check disk.
I tried that but it didn't get very far, so I went ahead and just killed all partitions, merged them (I had 2) and...
Apparently there is something like that where you'll see your actual soldiers shooting pool and such.
They said there's way more modules available to build than what htey show here.
