I've swapped drives into several different Dell Latitude laptop models. As long as the existing NIC drivers are compatible Windows Update has grabbed everything else on its own with no flags in device manager.
I'd say those temps are fine. Prime95 is basically a worst case scenario and for typical usage it's unlikely anything else will come close to that sustained power and temp.
Min requirements according to Steam are 4790k, 1050ti, and 8GB RAM. 980ti should be around a 1060/1070 unless there is some other reason I'm not aware that it wouldn't be compatible.
It's decent now, but as the units add up to make realistic scenarios the performance still tanks-- especially on crowded MP servers. MT hasn't really helped a whole lot so far, and some guys are still using ST because they get better performance/less stuttering somehow.

The early HP Reverbs had issues with cables, and in my case where the DP cable plugs into the circuit board itself seemed to have a lot of tension put on it. I got 4 years out of it so I'm not complaining too much. Think it was all finally fixed on the G2V2.

I only play DCS and IL2, so not dealing with a battery and wanted an upgrade in resolution. Definitely not happy with the $$ outlay but that's a price of sims.
Something to do with using nvencoding. I didn't realize it until after I bought it and went to to install the software so that was a rude awakening. Varjo does state that on their system requirements page, but I never thought of that even being an issue. :oops:
DCS performance has been terrible after the deferred rendering I think it was since 2.5. Prepare to be disappointed in the performance even after spending several $K on a top of the line system.

I have 6900XT that has worked well with my G2. Unfortunately it crapped out and now I'm looking at the Varjo Aero to replace it which only supports Nvidia. 4080 Super it will be I guess.

Kinda miffed that I bought into LGA1700 partially on the hope of future platform updates, but it looks like they're pretty meaningless. Not sure if even going from 12700k to 14900k would make any meaningful difference for mostly gaming.

Just my opinion but I think it's more an issue of pre Win 11 OSes and their schedulers not differentiating p cores vs e cores. W11 should assign the focused application to P cores and background tasks to e cores if no P cores are available.

If you changed the Wifi SSID, you'll need to connect to the new SSID with whatever you changed it to - your PC isn't going to automatically connect to a different SSID. Same goes for every other device that was connected to "Whitey".

It sucks that so many forums are dying out due to social media. The signal to noise ratio makes it difficult to find worthwhile info nowadays. Lots of good tutorials across many forums were screwed when photobucket pulled their shenanigans too which I'm sure didn't help things.

Windows 10/11 are awful to use on a HDD, would definitely not recommend. But yes, SSDs do tend to fail with little or no warning vs the clicking that usually happens with HDDs

2.4Ghz wifi will typically max out around 100mbps depending on the distance/obstructions. 5Ghz wifi should get you well beyond 100mbps, still less than 1Gbps, but drops off faster with distance/obstruction. This is dependent on your wireless router/modem and your devices connected to it.

Insurgency is kinda shallow to me (though I haven't played it recently). Less arcadey/twitch Counter Strike than anything close to BF IMO. And I guess that's what makes me so mad that they've killed BF the way they have. Vehicles and conquest really set it apart from the typical TDM shooter...
Pretty disappointed in the game again, and myself, after wasting money on BF1, V, and now 2042. It doesn't even feel like BF anymore really. More like Apex Legends or some other battle royale masquerading as battlefield.

I'm tempted to hop on this train too. Lack of supply and high prices for DDR5 and GPUs has me hesitating though. Maybe just get a DDR4 board and move my 1070 to it or the time being?
