Technically if your team decides to join in this is true. The only difference is the desire to be part of the competition. Some will add more to their production for a competition they want to be in than just a day to day thing. If they are already partaking in the month long challenge then they...

I wanted to post here and let whomever wants to partake jump on. Those whom don't so be it. Just let us know if the team would like to partake this year. We plan on running...
I am referring more to you stating that you were done participating in ANY further competitions and your production is to normal levels and not your "I'm kicking ass and taking names" production levels. Showing up to compete and being in the roster are two different things. Please don't take it...
To be fair, there used to be a ton more than there are now. Competitions have been drying up along with projects closing down. We just don't have that many projects suitable for a "good" challenge anymore and even the projects that once were as solid as one could be, networks don't keep up with...
My internet has been down since Saturday...that should give you guys a chance to catch up...... oh wait...I'm a drop in the bucket. Please resume and ignore me...hahaha.
As far as offering up to more teams, I am ok with it as long as it is still invite only and kept relatively small. We used...
That is some good insight. The problem I think we have on our end is most don't run FAH anymore or ever. So, getting a "fair" estimate probably won't really happen without just guessing based off of the database itself. Then guessing again based on how you want to make your setup efficient. For...
I meant to post earlier but my primary box took a dump and spent the whole day trying to figure out the issue. So, if @crashtech is changing the vote to abstain then the votes are in favor of having the event. The dates will be changed to not conflict with PG challenge but we are not skipping...
I don't have a horse in this race but have had many discussions about pros and cons over the years on this topic. Historically, teams that kick butt and lead challenges typically get the majority of the new recruits because they are typically just jumping to be on the best team or the best team...
The date isnt set in stone. It was assumed based on a previous post by biodoc. We can adjust it however needed.
Also keep in mind that the above screenshot from PrimeGrid is from their discussion thread and not yet posted as complete in its normal spot. There is still one more to be determined...
I DM'd @biodoc if we were still planning on having this event. He said that he didn't have the feeling that TAAT was still interested and for us to see if there was. So with that said, what are your feelings on the event? It would be 1/24-1/31 if it took place.
Edit: I am looking for just...
Thanks @biodoc for putting a lot of this together. And thanks to all that participated and contributed in positive ways. It is much appreciated. I am very surprised at the amount of resources dug up this year and hope people can find a way to bring even more next year.
Free-dc going down isn't the concern as much as WCG stats exporting going down for some reason. You could host the event directly off of their page if you wanted. However, I think most are WCG'd out by this time of year since most would have already contributed to the WCG Birthday event by...
Thanks. I will bookmark it. Most of my rigs are older and may skew some numbers based on that factor so will definitely need to pick up a kill-a-watt device soon. The good news is that I now am up to 2 DDR4 capable rigs in my arsenal...lol.
Power limiting is why I wanted to see RFGuy's numbers from last year. But since he clearly didn't run all of these, I have no basis on how well they are doing under my roof. I do have each of them limited to only 60% power but need to get a power meter before I do more thorough testing with...
Thanks. Not sure why that didn't come up when I searched it. I tried multiple variants of his name. Looks like he did roughly 30 million points during the event. That would have been from just his primary desktop which is Windows. He couldn't figure out getting it to work on Linux. (per the...
Thanks. I will reach out to him and find it.
Edit: Luckily Slack has some info still listed that wasn't deleted. I think he tried supporting it in 2019 but had a lot of trouble with it. And I see some comments about still not having a lot of luck in 2020 after the event. I'm still waiting on...
I couldn't find anything showing in partaking. Can you give me his FAH name for stats? I know he has been pretty bullish on being a BOINC user for the most part.
Actually, he wouldn't as he is retiring from the majority of DC... Not to mention, I don't believe he has ever partook in [H]'s FAH activities. I could be wrong but do not recall him joining us.
I added 3 2080 Supers and 3 2080's to my small farm right before the competition. I had access to 6 more (now only 4 more) 2080's if needed. These all joined my 750Ti in this competition this year that I normally didn't have. I only run them at 60% power. I know others have added to their hosts...
Two new projects have sprung up. One is only a few days old.
https://www.mlcathome.org/mlcathome/
Machine learning and is currently Linux CPU only.
https://minecraftathome.com/minecrafthome/
Just as it sounds. It is a gaming based project and is GPU only. If you run Intel iGPU's, OpenCL 1.2...
Also, please note in my thread we have info for a cc_config.xml that allows for BOINC to pause work when you have FAH work running. We are encouraging our dedicated folders to set this up to keep their rigs busy due to the FAH servers not being able to keep up with demand. One just stops the GPU...
Right. That is why I was wondering if anyone had attempted to not run the OpenCL but rather the CAL work units. I honestly don't know if the newer cards are capable of running the obsolete CAL work anymore. I was just curious if that could be a work around.
Has anyone attempted to get their 5700 to run on Moo!? Last I checked older cards that only had CAL worked but I didn't know if the new cards were still capable of CAL or not...
Thanks guys for the event. It was a fun change up. I will chat with the guys on ideas and timing of things. I was only suggesting Jan/Feb because the event calendar is mostly open on those two months other than typically a couple PG events. Maybe we could make it a quarterly event scheduled...
Any possibility you guys would want to move this challenge to being a yearly recurrence but in January or February since there is typically only a PrimeGrid challenge in each month? Formula-BOINC doesn't normally start until March. I doubt we do much with FB next year, but that would certainly...
Not many of the FAH crew left unfortunately. And the few from those days left are still PO'd at Pande Group. So, this is probably all she's gonna get unless someone just crawls out of the woodwork and surprises us.
Basically it is a very similar project to the old NetDimes project from years gone by. It is also an NCI project but is kinda heavy on the network equipment as it is doing a lot of traceroutes.
