I'm looking into getting a new TL most likely an 06. I'm very interested in getting a 6spd but I can't seem to find any to drive. I've driven the auto and loved it but the LSD and Brembo brakes the 6spd adds seems to make the manual a little more appealing (not to mention I'd rather drive a manual.

Just curious if any of you have driven one and if you can offer any comments towards this car as a whole I'd also appreciate it.

I don't own one, but I've driven one. Very nice. If I had enough money and were to buy one, it would definitely be the Dynamic / 6spd version.

a slightly related question...i recall that the 6 speed was rated at 270hp when it came out. looking at the 2006 model, its rated at 258. is that because of that slightly different rating method they introduced recently?

Yep - in reality, the power hasn't decreased as there's been no change to the engine, just the method of rating HP has changed.

Keep requesting a test drive from you local dealers, and make it known that you only want to drive the 6-speed. They'll get one in for you, if they think you are serious.

Problem is my "local" dealers are at LEAST an hour away. They know I'm serious and are currently looking for one for me as we speak.

Must be new for '06.

LSD still can't make up for it being FWD Yes, I'm an elitest anti-FWD person now (and I used to own a Honda)

That is because you have never driven a hot Honda with LSD

(owned 97 ITR #86)

I have an STi already, so the FWD can be forgiven

are you keeping or selling the STi?

I was considering the Spec B until I drove the TL. For the money (both the same price) the Leg doesn't even come CLOSE to comparison. I was actually sold on the Legacy until I drove the TL. The TL is worlds more refined, better EVERYTHING except drivetrain.

The 6sp is a pleasure to drive (I own one, 04 at least)

You'll get just a little bigger roll bar which tightens up the suspension some, although it doesn't feel like a sports car - it feels like a sports sedan. Many people put the a-spec supension on it for improved feel/stability. The brakes have a nice feel to them.

as far as the tranny - It is very smooth.

navi - get it, it adds all kinds of voice activated stuff.

The LSD is very noticible and I'm glad it has it. If you test drive make sure to turn the VSA off (button on left of steering column), makes the car much, much quicker.

-edit- forgot the cons...
FWD, feels "floaty" in cornering

That's great to hear. I don't really need a sports car feel, I just like being able to row through the gears myself instead of planting my foot and letting the car decide what IT wants to do. As for the Navi, that's an absolute must, there's too many gadgets with it for me to pass up.

The only real negative to the car is steering torque under heavy acceleration. You can feel it pull to the right. It's a result of FWD.

Otherwise, this car is unbelievable for the price.

And I would definitely buy the manual over the automatic.
