because Toyota and Honda (and Nissan too?) have been 'cheating' and overrated their horsepower rating. They received complaint from EPA to rectify the numbers.

I was considering the Spec B until I drove the TL. For the money (both the same price) the Leg doesn't even come CLOSE to comparison. I was actually sold on the Legacy until I drove the TL. The TL is worlds more refined, better EVERYTHING except drivetrain.

Lets race when you get your TL

I wonder can you do this:
Drive your Subbie to the Acura dealership
Have thirdeye request a testdrive
Have him tell the saleperson that, "If this car can beat that punk in the Legacy, I will buy it."

Not a chance he can beat me Besides, thirdeye even admits the Legacy drivetrain is better.

that's why he won't need to buy it

thirdeye to the salesman: "Dude! that guy only got four cylinders and NO VTEC!!!"

First time I drove one I found it difficult to be smooth with the clutch - 05.

Then I found many people had the same problem. You get smoother as you get used to it. Turns out it has to do with a delay in the fly-by-wire throttle.

doesn't matter, the handling still sucks.

and the ride will be more tipsy compare to a rwd.

Yeah, those FWD cars stink.

Too bad the RSXs are kicking the RX-8s all over the track in Grand Am Cup.

Must be a fluke.

I test drove the '05 auto/stick TL with the intention of comparing it to the infinity G35 and the lexus ES330. I loved it so much I bought it on the spot, and I don't regret it at all, it's a fantastic car all-around. Sure, it's FWD, but unless you're planning to race it in the Paris Dakar rally, it does just fine.

The TL will rev match your shifts for you if you let it. It doesn't get any smoother than that.

I absolutely love my TL. It's a very fun car to drive, and never given me any problems. Mine is an automatic, however. The navigation system is pretty nice. Most of the Acura owners that bought their TL without navi usually regret it and wish they had. The other ones who couldn't care about the navi only drive around town and things of that sort, so they don't really have a use for it.

One of the main reasons I bought am 04 TL was the available 6 speed manual transmission. Previous to this car I had an excellent automatic 92 Accord EX with over 250K miles. When I saw that the TL came with a manual I just had to have it. I still kept the Accord for a year for just-in-case-reasons. I finally sold it because I just never took the time to drive it and it seemed a shame to let it rot in the driveway.

The 6 speed is silky smooth and allows you to drive as hard or easy as you want without undue trauma. Suffice to say that if you do miss a shift it?s really your own damn fault and not the cars.

The only down side is learning to smoothly engage the clutch. For some reason it has a higher than usual grip point when you first engage it. Once you get acclimated to this it?s really fun car to drive. Another plus is that it comes with Brembo?s (s/p) front calipers that are very effective. They also tend to leave large amounts of brake dust on the front wheels but that?s no real problem. I could go but you get the point.

By the way the car now has over 18K miles on it and gets from 24 to 32 miles per gallon. I have also made use of the automatic speed limiter from time to time in 5th gear Its not drag limited.

Your welcome.

Not to offend anyone but I found the automatic versions to be quite Buick like in demeanor. Not necessarily a bad thing just too boring for me.

Flash,

It's refreshing to see good first hand experience with a car on ATOT instead of spouting fanboyisms. Hats off to you.

I too have tons of brake dust on my 6MT, but they do feel good.

My biggest complaint is the weight and floatiness. It ain't no sports car and it doesn't feel like one. But cruising at 90-100 is very easy and comfortable.
