a slightly related question...i recall that the 6 speed was rated at 270hp when it came out. looking at the 2006 model, its rated at 258. is that because of that slightly different rating method they introduced recently?

Like I said earlier, I don't care that it's FWD because it's not going be a track car.

I was considering the Spec B until I drove the TL. For the money (both the same price) the Leg doesn't even come CLOSE to comparison. I was actually sold on the Legacy until I drove the TL. The TL is worlds more refined, better EVERYTHING except drivetrain.

I wonder can you do this:
Drive your Subbie to the Acura dealership
Have thirdeye request a testdrive
Have him tell the saleperson that, "If this car can beat that punk in the Legacy, I will buy it."

Not a chance he can beat me Besides, thirdeye even admits the Legacy drivetrain is better.

doesn't matter, the handling still sucks.
and the ride will be more tipsy compare to a rwd.

First time I drove one I found it difficult to be smooth with the clutch - 05.
Then I found many people had the same problem. You get smoother as you get used to it. Turns out it has to do with a delay in the fly-by-wire throttle.
 Some people need to read less, and drive more.Originally posted by: CFster

Yeah, those FWD cars stink.
Too bad the RSXs are kicking the RX-8s all over the track in Grand Am Cup.
Must be a fluke.

One of the main reasons I bought am 04 TL was the available 6 speed manual transmission. Previous to this car I had an excellent automatic 92 Accord EX with over 250K miles. When I saw that the TL came with a manual I just had to have it. I still kept the Accord for a year for just-in-case-reasons. I finally sold it because I just never took the time to drive it and it seemed a shame to let it rot in the driveway.
The 6 speed is silky smooth and allows you to drive as hard or easy as you want without undue trauma. Suffice to say that if you do miss a shift it?s really your own damn fault and not the cars.
The only down side is learning to smoothly engage the clutch. For some reason it has a higher than usual grip point when you first engage it. Once you get acclimated to this it?s really fun car to drive. Another plus is that it comes with Brembo?s (s/p) front calipers that are very effective. They also tend to leave large amounts of brake dust on the front wheels but that?s no real problem. I could go but you get the point.
By the way the car now has over 18K miles on it and gets from 24 to 32 miles per gallon. I have also made use of the automatic speed limiter from time to time in 5th gear Its not drag limited.
Your welcome.Originally posted by: thirdeye
