1.2Mhz T-Bird Question?

Im building a new system with an Asus A7V133 and 1.2 T-Bird, If I unlock the Cpu and lower the multiplier can I set the FSB to 133Mhz (9.0X133)or do I have to get one of the 266Mhz CPU's?

I don't think you need to get one of those 266Mhz CPUs. Most of the Tbirds can do 266fsb.

I assume that if it's unlocked, one way or another, and your board has the ability, you should have no problem running it a 9x133. My 1.2 came unlocked and I have no problem running it at a FSB of 133.

I think all ot the new 1.2gig T'birds are unlocked. Mine is doing 10X150.

All 1.2gig Tbirds are unlocked. You should have no problems running it at 133FSB. My 1gig is running at 1.2gig ( 133x9x ).

All 1.2's aren't unlocked from the factory, but most of the old ones, and I think all the year 2001 ones are unlocked. You should have no problem lowering the multiplier and raising the FSB to 133... The CPU can't tell the difference.. just make sure you have a kt133a mobo and PC133 ram.

Another user using factory unlocked 1.2Ghz 200Mhz bus at 9x133 to get 266Mhz bus. Works A.O.K.

all tbird 1.2s are not unlocked. i received a "locked" cpu. i think misinformation is mingling with misundertsanding for some people ... changing the fsb to 133 does not mean the cpu was unlocked. in my opinion, the majority of tbirds (including mine) have no problem at 133 because the core of the 200 and 266 are essentially the same. again, this does not mean it came unlocked ... although some people did receive unlocked cpus. kudos to them!

I have one of those unlocked 1.2g TBird. I'm using 10x133 now, very cool and stable. I even lower the default vcore to 1.7v and I/O to 3.3v.
