Well shit, I fail. Life got the better of me and I've done only about 60 miles since my last post months ago.
I'm starting back into training again and I undid everything I had earned earlier this year. My workout this morning was A LOT harder than it should have been. 6.0 MPH is my "run forever" pace. Before at this speed my heart rate would stay fairly tame and even after an hour of running I felt completely fine.
I warmed up today at 5.0 MPH and my rate rate went to 170-180? wth? Once I upped it to 6.0 my HR was over 190 the entire time. After about 2 miles I'm sweating profusely and it feels harder than it should be, but not 190 HR hard. I gradually increase my speed to 9MPH while watching my HR and it maxed out at about 207 BPM. 9MPH is well above my aerobic threshold, but very far from "sprinting." Ordinarily I could sustain 9MPH+ for about a mile or so at a maximal effort. I did my workout this morning after my night shift (read: after being awake for 24 hours) and was partially dehydrated (I'm unable to drink enough sometimes at work) so HOPEFULLY that explains my PPP.
I'm so confused. I do not think my HR should be at 190 going 6.0MPH. Then again it's 6.0 is a conversational pace and it didn't feel like 190 effort. I wonder if I just have a higher maximum heart rate than I thought.
