Good luck to everyone racing tomorrow! There should be lots of mileage to add to the thread, and lots of good results!

2 miles yesterday (warmup + strides).

26.2 miles this morning. Great experience for my first marathon. 6:18s. Legs are freaking stooopid dead right now though.

Waiting on official results so I can see where I placed overall. Got 2nd in my age group (18-24). Awaiting the results from others! Hope everyone did great!

26.2 miles this morning... in the rain. 4:34:53. I wanted to run a 4:30 but I got there late so I missed out on running with the pace group. I had to pace myself but that was a disaster because i had no watch. Probably would have a slightly better time if I didn't stop twice to use the portapotti. Stopped another time and waited like 30 seconds but the dude never came out so i kept running. I'm happy I finished. I posted in the new years resolution thread I wanted to run in a marathon and eat a burger > 20oz. Only goal left is to eat the > 20oz burger .

My legs feel like death right now.

btw congrats allies!

Dude... aren't you gonna crush a 20oz burger tonight?! I think it's definitely in order.. a 1-2 punch to knock out your resolutions!

Congrats to you as well... I'm soooo happy the rain held off in Cincy for the most part.

We feel the same way Scorch. We like your gf also, my son and I ran with her for like 95% of the race. Nice girl. Sorry I got stuck talking with that older guy for so long, I only went over there to see my placing...

So, I wound up coming in at 2:22:xx, my son finished in 2:24:49. I placed 45th, my boy was 49th. Scorch finished over half an hour sooner than I did, great run brother!

I had sooo much fun doing this event, I'm now scouring the area for other races like it.

15 miles today

Great job everyone!!!

Allies - amazing running! You would have finished 5th overall in my marathon.

Long day and I can't believe I'm still up. After staying up to watch the Celtics game last night, I woke-up at 5am to drive down to Providence for my marathon. I need to do training runs in the morning b/c I was not awake. Though I started out well, it took me til mile 7 to wake-up. A combination of nagging injuries and a lame/boring course didn't bring the best out of me and I finished 3:57 119/235 in my age bracket. I was able to sprint the last two miles which made me realize how I could have given more. So, I am disappointed with my finish.

After crossing the finish line, I had a hard time walking. Worse, at the post-race event, they had hundreds of pizzas for everyone. After guzzling a bottle of water, I had no desire to eat. I did force a single piece of pizza down. Thinking I would be famished on the drive home, I grabbed a whole pizza. Sadly, I still had no desire to eat.

Got home, drank liquids but no appetite. Felt good enough to take the dogs hiking and mowed the lawn. I finally was able to eat around 8pm tonight. And now my legs are killing me and don't know how I'm going to sleep. May need to soak in the whirl pool before I go to bed.

What were you shooting for? Congrats on finishing anyway. I don't know how you didn't eat anything (cept for the one slice), then went hiking and mowed the lawn. Geez dood You might ice your legs down (or some people prefer warm over cold...I normally soak in ice water which helps a lot, or use icepacks)

How could you not eat? I barely work out, have a slightly busy day & come home STARVING, even if I ate decent that day.

MGGP - You finished, and mission accomplished - well done!

Caveman - Yea, I know about those early morning runs man, I forced myself to run in the mornings for the last 3 weeks and it totally paid off. Sorry to hear your race didn't go as well as you wanted, but props for finishing.

Allies - Holy goddamn sir, that is incredible! I just saw your results, you finished 10th in 2:45:11. Very well done! (BTW, you may want to email the race directors - they have you listed in the 45-49 age category by mistake )

Scorch and Mega - Awesome races guys; well done!

I ran the Vancouver Marathon today, and had a very good race. I was well awake, hydrated and had the system flushed before starting. Conditions were perfect: 10 C (50 F), cloudy with sunny breaks and no wind.

I tried to be reserved at the start. Came across a guy around 4k. I asked him his pace and he said 2:40, so we agreed to work together. We were a little hot through 10k (37:30), but feeling very relaxed.

The female front runners came up on us around 12k coming down off an overpass, so we traded the lead for a few km. Still ahead of pace at 16km (10mi) at 1 hour even.

Still strong going into Stanley Park (19km) but the women started to pull away (one was a rabbit, and dropped out). Feeling a bit fatigued at the half (around 1:21). Realized I would be in for some pain on the second half. One big hill, and then downhill out of the park along the beach. Form still good. My race buddy tells me he might have to drop for a shit soon.

Really starting to struggle over Burrard Bridge (29km) as it is about 100ft climb. Relaxed a bit on the downside, but quads are starting to tighten. My buddy pulls away at 30km.

Through Kitsilano, I bonked pretty hard. I had been alternating gels, Gatorade and water at almost every station but the Wall got me. Focused on the next tree, next corner, next spectator to make it through. 32km (20mi) at 2:04:45.

My buddy dropped to make a pit stop at 31km. I reached the turnaround to head back towards downtown, and just past 33km he blew past me again:Q.

I held my form together and managed to get that second wind around 35-36km. Calves are tight now in addition to my quads, and my feet are getting sore. Managed to feed off the crowd's energy and actually caught the second place female runner around 37km.

Grinded it out back over the Burrard Bridge (40km). Slowly dialed up the pace to extract what I had left. Not enough for a sprint, but I was up a gear or so at the finish.

Finished in 2:50:07 (19th overall, 3rd in my age category 25-29).

Everything came together perfectly today. Would have been nice to be closer to 2:45, but I think I need more mileage next time around to make that happen. Considering I could barely run back in January, I'm happy to have battled to make it here.

Despite walking around for a while this afternoon and using the Stick, I can barely walk down a set of stairs. LOL. Worth it though.

To everyone who had a race this Sunday (and last weekend, Raging ) I just wanna say congrats again.

And Inflatable, very good job! I want to get a little bit by bit piece up on there like you did since I had a pretty exciting race and would like to flesh it out, but I'm like completely out of it right now and about to pass out.

As for the age group... yeah apparently I won the Master's Division My dad and I talked to some people after I was awarded first place... returned the plaque, and hopefully they'll make the appropriate fixes. I'll send an email out to them tomorrow to make sure they're taking care of it.

I'll update with how my race progressed tomorrow while I'm at work

PS... diggin the pron, looking strong!

Great recap IB, I'll write one like it tonight after work. I didn't have the time or energy to stay up and compose one yesterday. I was and still am beat, I almost called in to work I am so tired.

To allies and IB - most excellent efforts yesterday sirs. If I could do a marathon in 4 hours I'd be happy as hell.

MGGP - congratulations on finishing your first marathon! You are inspiring me to sign up for one now. After doing 15 I am sure I can do 26 with a few months of training.

Congrats to everyone this past weekend. Reading about everyone's experiences and adding to the 10k mile total definitely kept me motivated these past few months.

I don't know about you guys but I'm hurting right now haha.

My calves and quads are still so tight I can't squat to tie my shoes, go down stairs very well, or walk faster than an 85 year old guy with a cane .

We earned it though guys! I can't wait to recover and get back to training.

Wow, nice job dood! Congrats! I'm envious of those who can run that fast for that long. Keep off those stairs! Big question is, what did you eat/drink after?
