14.1 miles with a bitter bitter cold wind with the windchill basically at 0F. Group run with a couple other local ultra runners.

30 miles yesterday which is 1.2 miles less than a full 50K. I just couldn't finish guys. I had gastric issues which caused dehydration. I was found delirious just off the trail by a nice lady. Puking and somehow talking to my wife on my cellphone. Physically I am fine now, just pissed that I screwed up so badly. I was crushing it at mile 25 even though I'd already shit twice, by mile 30 I was DONE. I'd since shit one more time and puked 3 times at least. What a day...

Sorry to hear man. It's my greatest race day fear. Last weekend, during my long run, I had to make two pit stops due to GI issues. Both times it was hard to get back into running. I even take anti-d meds beforehand to hope to control such issues.

Rest and heal up. You'll do it next time.

2.3 miles this morning. It was tough going at the start but after the first mile my legs loosened up nicely. The rain and gusty winds weren't helping much but it did add some zest to the slog.

Sorry to hear you got a DNF, Mega, but at least you're OK. Found delirious on the trail?!? That could've gone a whole lot worse! 30 miles in a day is still nothing to sneeze at. Glad to hear you're feeling better this time around.

Thanks. I was dizzy and I told the lady that found me that I heard buzzing in my ear. I was out of it. lol But yeah, I'm glad I laid down so close to the trail. I had wits enough to find shade in a patch of fern and clover.

Dave, it's not normally like this for me. I just had a really bad day and the more experienced runners I know all tell me that everyone has days like I did. It's a learning experience.

I believe it, just having a little fun.

If I ever got to the point where I could run 30 miles non-stop, I would probably consider myself to be pretty awesome (don't worry about my ego however, it most likely will never happen!). I don't know how you guys do what you do, but it is surely impressive.

So much of it is mental. Even though I've only got one ultra under my belt so far, I've fast figured out so much of ultra running is telling your legs and brain to just STFU and keep moving.

My 20 miler I did on friday I legit hallucinated at the end of it. I was thoroughly convinced a lump of blackish dirty snow was a rabbit...until I realized it was just a lump of dirty snow. I was probably carb depleted so I took in some extra calories and finished the last 2 miles. Or sundays 14 mile run it was just bitterly cold and the course we as a group ran was straight into a 10-15mph wind. The windchill was 0F and I hated life for most of the run but man the feeling of mental toughness afterwards can't be beat and I can draw on that toughness in races.

As a nurse I'm really glad you are OK Mega that is definitely scary stuff, better luck next time!! We all have bad days.

Lastly 8.2 miles today 45F sunny no wind. Beautiful run!!

It also takes a body that can handle that kind of mileage. I'm not sure I have that honestly.

4 miles tonight. Taking it easy until I know my knee isn't going to blow up.

Met up with team that meets up at the Newton hills on Tuesday to do hill training. Four miles of hill repeats. Tough but I feel great was first to third place in all of the intervals.
