33 over the last 2 weeks including the longest run I've done in 15 years. (9.2 training run with some of my relay teammates).

(1.0 / 9.2 / 1.0 / 1.0 / 3.2 / 5.0 / 5.9 / 2.0 / 4.7 )

4 miles today. some douchebags heckled me as soon as I got out the door but the rest of the run made me forget their idiocy. it was the perfect temperature to run shirtless, and the air smelled like lilacs.

The worst I get is a car load of stupid rednecks yelling at me as they pass. I can never tell what they've said but I'm sure it's never good. I just get all smug and murmur something about "fat fvcking redneck scumbags..."

No running today, tomorrow is race day. I'm not even gonna bike or do strength work. I feel so lazy.

Haters gonna hate. *shrug*

Easy 2.5 miles this morning - first in what feels like forever. Still feeling the tendinitis a bit although it does ease after a few minutes. Still, going to go for it tomorrow and see what happens. 20,178

I used to hum the rocky theme whenever I saw someone jogging on the street. In my defense, I was 13

Quick (for me) 3-miler this afternoon... the Riverbank Run is this Saturday! I'm pumped, if not exactly as well trained as I wanted to be!

Hello everybody, first race of the season is done. 3 of the 4 of us finished. My daughter was a nervous wreck and wound up getting sick at the end of the first 5 mile leg. She was dry heaving and her mother told me she was not sweating. That was bad to hear as it was in the 60s and very humid. She later told her mother that she loves running trails with me but she doesn't want to race in anything longer than 10k. She's a good kid, I'll carry her along on training runs any time she wants to go.

My younger son came in right behind his brother, they were 69 and 70 on the finishers' list. I am super proud of his effort, he went from nothing to 15 mile trail race in less than 6 months.

My eldest's injuries weren't an issue today, he stuck with me for most of the first leg but dropped back a bit to run with an older woman. She is a veteran ultra runner and was completely awestruck by her. He had a great time.

I did pretty well, for me anyways. I was 55th and finished in 2:38. There was a very competitive field this year, I was really impressed by the other runners. I met 3 of them, one of whom will be doing several of the other races I'm doing this year. My one bonehead move: I wore a long sleeve tech shirt thinking it would be chilly for most of the event. WRONG. lol I was sweating heavily before I had run 5K.

All in all it was a great race. The course was different this year: the race directors changed the legs to keep the hardest stuff from last year but added some new hills and mud holes to make it a much more difficult race. Despite that, I had more fun this year and us 3 guys will all be going back in 2011 for another shot at it.

Next up, the Sehgahunda Trail Marathon on May 29th.

Oh and I'll be adding 15 miles for today's fun.

My update:

Today was the Pittsburgh Marathon. My goal was to hit as close to 6's as possible so that's what I set out to do.

The conditions were less than stellar. At the time of the gun it was 68 and overcast. By the third mile it had warmed up and was pouring. The rain continued throughout the entire race (obviously changing its intensity, but it was present for the entire time), and the temperature had to have been in the mid 70s by the time I finished.

Took out the first mile somewhat conservatively; 6:17. Came back with a 6:02 for the second. Three and four averaged to 5:55s (missed the 3rd mile mark) and I continued ~6:00 pace 'til mile 12, where the hill picked up (12-14 were the hill miles). Made it up averaging right around 6:20s, what I had planned to do. Through the half in 1:19:35. Dropped it back down to a 6:00 low for the first mile after the hill.

Problems began here. Got a side stitch - I had been taking a lot of water (about 4 oz/mile) since I was feeling like I was overheating and becoming dehydrated. Had to urge my body to do 6:45s and get through the cramp. After that I began to amp it up again...

Only for a mile or two though. Got to the 16 mile mark at 1:37:35 and was slowing down at this point. Feeling woozy and just completely out of it. After struggling through a few horrible miles I really had slowed it down and by mile 22 I was walking. I literally could've fallen asleep on the course... I was walking with my eyes closed, stumbling, going in and out of consciousness. Felt awful. But I didn't want to stop after getting so far.

"Walked" for 25 mins 57 seconds 'til about mile 23.5 or so, and at this point I finally began to start feeling good enough to run. Split my time at the 25 mi mark, and did the last 1.2 in 8:44, finishing in 3:03:05.

Pretty disappointed with the run, and wish I knew how I'd fare if the weather was a little more favorable. Should've changed my race plan accordingly when the weather was sucking (although I was feeling bulletproof until that first side stitch).

Oh well. +2.5 yesterday and 27 today after my warmup.

PS: Congrats Mega on your race And good luck in your marathon!

Hey allies, sorry about your troubles. Even with a 25-minute walk you're faster than my marathon PR though!

What do you think caused the whole wooziness thing? Pushing too hard in the beginning?
