I'm having some mildly irritating issues myself with just 1.5 weeks until the start of my 2010 race season. My groin and ankle are fine, but I was having pain in my piriformis area (left side) Sunday and Monday. And yesterday my knee started acting goofy, aches every once in a while. It's not enough to affect my stride but it concerns me when I consider what I'm going to be putting my knee through this year.
I don't want to do it, but I'm resorting to no running for another couple of days. I'll do my strength work and ride my recumbent exercise bike to keep my legs loose. I'd do pool running but I don't have access to a pool.
When is your next big event IB?
Mega - Good to hear your groin and ankle have resolved. I had a tight piriformis some months back but I found that doing pinpoint release with a lacrosse ball really loosened up the muscle. Hope you get that sorted out, as it may be contributing to your knee aches.
I agree man, I really hate having to take unscheduled days off. The exercise bike is good for cross training but I really think pool running is more specific to running. I'm lucky to live close to a pool.
This injury is at the point where it hurts to walk on it much of the time. It's also causing some nasty compensation issues with my VMO (inside quad) and achilles so I must have it looked at. It's encouraging that the pain is not constrained to a specific part of my shin, and it settles down after a rest day, but I need to give it a few days off at least.
My next event (and my planned peak for this cycle) is the Vancouver Marathon on May 2. Worst case scenario, I could probably pool run for 11 days until the race, but I'll see what my physio says on Saturday.
