Wow that's a good overclock. Is it safe to run 45nm AMD Processors at 1.58V though? It wasn't even safe to run 1.56V on 65nm C2D/Q processor, air cooled. Are AMD Phenom processors more resilient to higher voltages? IIRC, > 1.45V on 45nm is unsafe for Core i7s.
Yes, remember AMD and Intel cpus are designed differently, so you can't really compare vcore. All I know is that, using my Kill-a-watt, at full load my system draws ~370w at full load overclocked. My 555BE unlocked @ 4GHz 1.41vcore drew ~280w full load. I have 3x 120mm Yate-Loon Medium fans, 1x 140mm YL-M fan, and 2x Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm M fans.
that looks like a very good score on the overclock and all for $199 this could be legend in the making or maybe its a bit soon to say that, thax for the small review
So far it looks like AMD shattered the 4ghz barrier that c2 had a problem with, and even c3 steppings to a extent. Impressive that all 6x cores can pass the 4ghz mark. The 4x core versions could turn out to be better since two of the worst cores will be turned off.
Anyways, the Level 3 cache size and structure is still the same as the originals even down to the same hit rate. Not thats there anything really wrong with that or anything.
What would be a good test to double check is run a cache latency test to see if the Level 3 cache latency is still the same as earlier PII's. There used to be a file named latency.exe that came with CPUz but I don't think it does anymore. If you get it, run it a few times to see what they average latency is.
Also, download the latest cpuz which includes Thuban support. I'd like to see what revision it says... C4???
frys is stocking the 1055T already but we cant sell it yet. if your store's power goes out though, or you are forced to run a manual purchase instead of doing it through the cash register, you can get them to sell you one since there wont be any other flag that we cant. someone apparently sold an i7 980X this way before launch in our area, there's no way anyone will know unless they browse these sites (which most dont)
