Excellent results and thank you for sharing. 6 cores @4.0GHz for under $200 will be totally awesome if it works on my current AM2+ platform. Not sure if I need that many cores but I always welcome more choices.

Impressive. I was just trolling around Micro Center this morning for a 1055t...not on the floor yet. As soon as I asked for it the kid went right in the back and looked at it. Siiiigh.

Excellent for AMD. The good news is my wife's pc is a candidate for an upgrade soon. Looks like she might get a Thuban. Will they even sell the PII x4s anymore?

sure they will. Phenom II X4 will get a new top end part, 960T, in a few weeks. No change to the other X4's for now.

Only one problem I have with those graphs. While informative, they pit 3 $300 cpu's against a $1000 one.

i'm sure this has been asked before, but why is the I7 980X so far ahead of everything else in the AES encryption benchmark?

This is *not* an official benchmark, apocalypse spend some time of his to voluntarily create those graphs based on data he has (930 and 980X) and compared it with 1055T that richierich provided in this thread to give us an idea how the new chip performed.

where are the reviews? you can already buy the cpus but not one damn review from any of the big tech sites. I know I wouldnt buy something without looking at proper reviews and has this even ever happened before? really why the hell would the nda still be in place when the product is already available for purchase?

I dunno, it's hard to beat AMD's hex-core pricing. If you're mostly gaming, pass. But if you want those extra cores on the cheap, with very good performance, get a Thuban .

yep, with a nice little $15 early adopter increase. Not that bad actually. I'm waiting on a Frys combo
