Wow what has AMD done with these chips? 4GHz on a Quad is not likely and now we have 6 cores at 4.2! Eagerly awaiting more benches and AT's review.

I share the same sense of wonder and enthusiasm. April 26th cannot come fast enough.

A lot of the issue was thermal, and according to AMD that happened to be a major focus on this new chip. I'm interested to see how far they'll scale this new design, though I hope turbo doesn't serve as an easy out for not raising base clocks.

Your latest result is interesting, to say the least. This is a nice preview of Thuban, if this holds for a majority of the chips.

4.3 GHz @ vcore of 1.504V (I would assume BIOS vcore is 1.525V **EDIT**: Just saw your sig, 1.58V)
3GHz uncore clock. Very impressive as well, and more so considering it is alongside a 4.3GHz core overclock. What CPU-NB VID did you end up using? And what NB voltage did you use to stabilize the bus and RAM?

So we should be seeing some official reviews tomorrow I take it?

I am looking forward to some 1055T vs. 980X bechmarks at equal clock speeds.

Here in australia the 1055T is priced almost the same as a i5 750. So that's the comparison I am mostly looking for.

And the 1090T might end up at a similar price as the i7 860. So these 2 intel chips I would like to see in some reviews.

Those are the same comparisons I believe most will compare. Throw in a I7 930/920 as well. I believe in rendering and multi-threaded apps the 6 core AMD will either beat or equal Intel performance. But still fall behind in gaming. But all these chips are seriously fast nowadays.

at 4ghz this is excellent value compare to i5 750s in threaded apps. but I wonder if it can withstand the vcore pumped through it.

What is amazing to me is how surprising Thuban seems to be. Thuban was pretty low-key, and I don't think anybody actually expected Thuban to be anything more than just "Deneb with two more cores tacked on". Bulldozer was what everyone was waiting for from AMD, but it seems AMD had enough time to improve Deneb significantly before becoming Thuban. Take into contrast what was a few months ago (Nov-Dec 2009) the expectation that the clockspeeds most likely will be 2.6 or 2.8 or similarly not spectacular and not even a hint of "turbo", with what has been leaked and shared so far. It's not an i7 crusher, but perhaps even the staunchest of AMD critics would at least readily admit that Thuban is (or until it is official, seems) a significant improvement over Deneb.

Nice temps richie, 28C with 1.536V is cool for a chip. Have you tried any 3dVantage benchmarks yet. Also, do you have another i7 system to compare the results with.

3Dvantage 3D benchmarks or cpu ones? I only downloaded the trial and it only has 3D benchmarks, which I'm too embarrased to run since I only have an 8800GT atm (hardly game anymore)

Okay if you can run these benches, it would be awesome:

PCMark Vantage
3dMark Vantage CPU only test
Sisoft Sandra - Run: Doublex4, Floatx8, Integerx16, Aggregate
Everest Ultimate Edition- Run: AES, zLIB, PhotoWorxx, CPUQueen
WPrime - http://www.wprime.net/Download/

If you click on the following, you can then compare these numbers with a stock and OCd i7 930:

http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/intel_core_i7_930_review/4
http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/intel_core_i7_930_review/5

If you could also include Sysmark 2007 performance, that would be great, try to take individual benches and compare with the following:

Could you do a 1m run of super phi? Would like to compare the single core performance to other PIIs and I7s

Anxiously awaits to hear from richie on requested benches , I've got a feeling that the 1055T will beat the i7 930

What's the point of an NDA when there's general customers that already have the CPU.

So I upgraded my BIOS on my GA-MA770T-UD3P to F7, and Gigabyte says it supports the 1055, but does not list the 1090. WTF ??

Any advice here ?
