this CPU is amazing, but i need to know if is more better in OC the 1090T, that 1055T.

The 1055T has a rather low multi, so your mainboard might not reach high enough FSB or you run into limits with your ram.

For the extra money I would definitly get the 1090T cos it's black edition and this makes things so much easier.

Which ones are "lower is better" and which ones are "higher is better"?

All scores are "higher is better" The scores with 3dMark may be iffy since a 5870 was used on the i7 930 and an 8800 GT was used on the 1055T.

Test setups:
i7 930 --source - http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/intel_core_i7_930_review/4
ASUS Rampage 2 Extreme
6GB Corsair Dominator GT @1333
1000w OCZ PSU
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3
ASUS HD5870
Noctua NH-D14 with Arctic Cooling MX3
Core i7 930 @ Stock and @ 200x21 for Overclocking

Richie's 1055T Phenom II X6
Phenom II 1055T X6 4GHz / 3GHz 1.52vcore / Scythe Mugen 2 + Gentle Typhoon Push Pull
Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P / OCZ Gold PC3-8500 @ 1333MHz 6-6-6-17-11 1.7v
SuperTalent UltraDrive ME 64GB SSD / Seagate 1.5TB / 8800GT 512MB
Antec NeoPower HE 550w / Antec 300 / Win 7 HP 64-bit

All scores are "higher is better"

What's with these charts?

Makes you believe intel is twice as fast

I observed that as well, and would personally prefer a better scale used for the graphs. However, this is a free service done by a fellow member. I do not wish to be too critical.

Thank you, Apocalypse23, for the effort you have done. It is greatly appreciated to see the benchmarks. If you could have time to improve the graphs, that would be great, but as it is, the numbers alone are already good enough for critical analysis. Thanks. I would not have had so easy an access (effortless) to such comparisons had it not been for your contribution.

Np, thank richierich for his great benches . On another note, I'm creating 4.2GHZ 980x vs 1055T graphs at, will post in 30 min.

The AES graph looks funny because it looks like the 980x is over 10x faster

Yeah apparently from what the Gulftown reviewer had to say about AES was "For the Gulftown upgrade from the current i7s Intel have implemented hardware accelerated AES encryption. The benefits of this might not be immediately apparent until you look at the graph below. If you're not impressed you're dead from the neck up.". I think it's a 980x only hardware acceleration feature for AES.

If you have an AM2+/AM3 board be sure to check for bios updates even if you don't plan to get an x6, looks like Gigabyte offered better power consumption in the x6 update for even the x4. Not sure if it's an actual bios feature or board specific, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see this in other boards also.

You've got that thing @ 4.3 ghz with a Mugen 2? Damn, can't wait to see what an nh-d14 with 2-3 Deltas/San Aces can do.

My thoughts as well. 4.3GHz air cooled, with temps below 60C. Better (water) cooling might get a few extra hundred MHz. The voltages concern me, though.

I've only had the 1055T since Saturday noon. And I've only been able to mess around for about 6 hours total with the system since then. I notice that at 4.2GHz, I only need around 1.52vcore, because I'm running my NB @ 3GHz (more voltage required). I can lower my NB speed, and lower vcore as well, but have been to busy trying to bench it with whatever requests come my way.

Understood. Despite the voltages, it is still amazing, especially being air-cooled. The Denebs, for sure, could not achieve the same feat given the same voltages and would have far higher temperature.

Wizzard of TPU seemed to have commented that their sample is still on the way and the review will be by Monday next week. Source (6th non-reply comment).

I get the feeling waiting for Thuban reviews tonight will be an exercise in disappointment.

How come when you can buy the cpus in shops here in Australia Funny

We have users posting overclocked benchmarks but nothing "official" with other cpus as comparison.

Wow, who'd a thought I might be able to put something in my AM2+ board that can perform like that (assuming AM2+ support is included and DDR2 doesn't hurt this thing too bad).

Anyone have any idea on when the x4's will launch, if they'll launch with the x6's? I just wonder if the x4's would overclock even better due to less heat. At any rate, it seems like a very interesting part.
