Hi all

I will be upgrading to a Ryzen 2700X on an Asus X470 Prime motherboard. I will be using my Zotac 1070 as well.

I currently have an Asus MG28UQ 4K monitor and would like to get into the 120/144Hz Gsync scene and would like to know if my 1070 would be up to the task? Would the card be able to push a 120/144 fps to work with such a monitor?

Thanks!

The MG28UQ only supports Freesync (or Gsync compatibility) at 40-60hz and only using displayport.

A GTX 1070 should be capable of 1080p 144hz gaming at high settings though. So if you buy a 1080p 144hz Gsync or Freesync monitor, you should be fine.

4k 120/144hz gaming would require an RTX 2080Ti, and even then most games wouldn't run that well. Not to mention the monitors capable of 4k 120/144hz cost $1500+.

I currently have the monitor connected using Displayport and have had not much success getting the monitor to run in Gsync compatible mode.

Thanks for the reply

G-sync compatibility is highly dependant on the monitor, older freesync monitors especially will likely have more issues.

Further, a sync range of only 40-60hz is pretty small and wouldn't be all that noticeable in most cases as it is.

I am not sure if the latest Nvidia drivers have somewhow change the compatibility. When I enable Gsync compatibility, in Xplane for example, there is extreme tearing and jittering. I am sure that in a previous driver version, I had no real issues with with in Xplane.

No matter I guess, as it doesn't seem to work at all now. The Pendulum demo is unable to run smoothly on the monitor with Gysnc on, so maybe I didn't have it enabled properly beforehand?

Thanks again.

I dont THINK any driver update has changed how it works with Gsync compatibility, so I would guess that it might not have been enabled before or something.
