I just bought the Acer HN274H and set it up. I really love the 120hz, everything is so dang smooth and responsive... wish I could have gotten it w/o the glasses, I have no interest in 3d. Wonder what the second-hand market for these things is.

Don't listen to that crap about 5ms beeing low/high. Most of the time those are marketing tricks advertising 2ms under certain circumstances but you got to read some reviews to find out the real response and/or any ghosting problems.
By the way those that notice difference between 2ms & 5 ms should contact USAF asap to become pilots.

My 1ms will pown a LED in FPS games. Thank you. not a cheap 2ms LG or Dell thats laggy

Ive played enough FPS and other games to be a judge of lag.. Im here to say every LCD Ive come across when you turn Vsync ON the mouse becomes laggy. I am not saying this about LED, but about LCD

I didnt expect much going to LCD but wow was I shocked when the mouse had no lag on vsync on ,, everything was even smoother then before since its locked at 60fps no matter what game and what I do @ 8xaa 16xAF vsync on. 0 lag ,, This 1ms powns me.

So the 5ms response time and small size 24" are negatives for this mon u want.
please STOP posting back to back like that. there is an edit button if another random thought pops in that head of yours 30 seconds later.

and stop making ignorant claims about LED monitors. LED is just a backlight and has nothing to do with response times. you say the same thing over and over and it is wrong.

like you said it is just marketing but some 5ms are horrible while others are just fine. my 3 yr old Acer was 5ms and was not bothersome at all but I have tried a few newer 5ms monitors and they are quite blurry just looking around in a game.

@ 60Hz an LCD panel really only needs a pixel response time of 16ms or less. @ 120Hz, anything less than 8ms average will be good enough and be hands-down better than a 1ms monitor @ 60Hz

response time and input lag are not even related anyway are they? a monitor with a high response time will just make the screen look more blurry when moving.

Pretty sure response time and monitor input lag are the one and the same thing. It's just that it can be measured in grey to grey or black to black.

incorrect.
response time is the switching speed of the liquid crystal element/gate from any given value to a different value. the transition from say 128 to 129 is so minute that the switch get a little lazy/sluggish. the nature of the gate makes it easier/faster to switch from 128 to 259 and then to 129. that is what they mean by grey to grey. the values in ms vary for each color transition, so there is no absolute 2ms, 5ms, or 8ms. some red-to-brown transitions may be 1.5ms and some green-to-purples may be 9ms (you would have to look at a full calibrator test to see exactly which ranges were slower.)

input lag is the general delay the processing electronics of the monitor implement to avoid high speed artifacts like ghost trails and edge color value shifts as it tries to anticipate what the value of a fast moving pixel will need to change to. some makers delay the signal coming from the card by anywhere from 1 to 3 frames to make sure the image is correct. if the processing electronics are too cheap or attempt to compensate for too many things/video-formats, the "laggy" aspect gamers complain about comes into play.

ips and va panels are usually measured GtG. tn panels ratings are done on whatever standard the manufacturer cares to make up. anyone who thinks there is an actual difference between 2 and 5 ms should avoid buying bridges in brooklyn.

Yep, I'll pwn retardboy's ass in any FPS on my 8 year old HP L2335 with 16ms.

Is there a 1920x1200 120hz panel out there? Just starting to look at new monitors.

I bought the viewsonic 2268 monitor you have listed there on newegg a few weeks back. I personally like it, very little motion blur that I could tell, and there were no issues with input lag, even tried a little counter strike and noticed no issues. I use a 4870 with the monitor. The speakers are decent, they don't get very loud but are fine considering how close to the screen you'll most likely be.

No. 1920x1200 can really only be found in the professional-marketed displays these days, anything to do with "home" and "entertainment" is 1080p, or less if it's a smaller monitor.

There are some 27" 1080p @ 120hz displays though, I believe Samsung offers two. They're not cheap.
