Did you read the OP, or are you another "OMFG, Deagle Pwns j00!" Desert Eagle fanboy? Because there is nothing chambered for any of the various 50 caliber rounds that I would recommend for CC.

After firing a Desert Eagle, I have come to the conclusion that they suck. Especially for a CCW.

That was pretty much my opinion, too. It makes a nice toy, and gets a lot of attention, but it isn't practical, and I wouldnt want to use it in a tactical situation.

I'm looking for something small and light like a keltec p3at or p11.
Prefer 9mm.
Small and light.
Inexpensive. (p38, p11 can be had for <$300)

Any suggestions?

EDIT:
OK, since NO ONE is actually reading the thread, no one saw my update a few posts down. Here, let me paste it up here for you.

I currently own a glock 27 and yes, I've had basic training (safety, maintaning the weapon, and shooting). Of course I will register the weapon on purchase. But, I will hold off on the concealed carry permit until I'm more comfortable with the weapon. I would also like to take some self defense courses -both armed and unarmed. I just want something a little lighter and with a smaller profile than the glock.

You want something smaller than a G27??? Those are pretty tiny if you ask me.

As mentioned above, I am wondering why you just don't stick with the G-27... Although I am a big fan of the .45, a .40 would most likely be my second choice... The Glock 27 in my mind fits your needs very well... throw some trijicon night sites on there if you don't already have them and find a good holster, and spend the money on training and ammo...

glock not sleek enough fior you ehhh.... well if you want to be cool and james bondish go with the walthers they are stereotypically small and sleek

however my cousin bought a really nice matching set of glocks 9mm and a 22mm the 9 looks bad ass and the 22 is compact and sleek...

Ummm, excuse me. Why do you want to carry a concealed gun? Thats a bit strange. You obvioulsy have very limited knowledge of handguns or you wouldn't be asking for suggestions. To add to that, your an obvious noob and you state your intention is to carry a gun concealed. HMMMMM...............a noob with a concealed weapon. Nice mix................for a disaster that is.

I see your trolling continues. Why dont you take your obviously ignorant ass outta this thread, as you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

What are you going to do? Shoot me? Its not trolling. All other things aside, its a very legimate question to ask why someone wants to carry a concealed weapon. Would you ask a guy why he wants 1000lbs of fertilizer and he's not a farmer.

Yes it is trolling. You are posting to create controversy where none is needed. It is none of your business why he is getting it unless you are an agent of the state he is living in or with the ATF and are looking into catching a felon trying to purchase a firearm.

BTW, your analogy is flawed. You are comparing a something that would raise many red flags with various agencies because of the potential of a giant bomb, to a CCW permit, which is sought after everyday by law abiting citizens.

i thought he was just being a douche ... you need a concealed permit to carry around a pistol... it is the only legal way to do it.... and i can kind of see holding off... there really is no point but what ever... if he wants the gun first he just cant carry it around...

My god. Some of you people are dense, such as SirStev0. How many times do i have to tell you that I'm not going to carry until I am legally licensed to do so.

At any rate.. I bought a Springfield XD9. VERY similar to glock. It feels a little shorter, a tiny bit slimmer, and a tiny bit lighter. With a 9x19 round, it will still get the job done. The reason I like this over the Glock is because it offers an additional grip safety. I've done some reading up on Glocks and it seems like there has been a fair ammount of accidental discharge just while drawing the gun. Most seem to occur with police officers who regularly carry a Glock. It's difficult to find information on it because everytime Glock settles a court case, they always include a non-disclosure agreement.

The term you are looking for is Non-Disclosure Agreement.

All I'm going to day on the matter is that if draw correctly, you will not have a ND. And yes, it is an ND, not an AD. Calling it an accidental discharge is trying to remove some of the responsibility from the guy who screwed up. You train correctly (and more than once or twice a year like most cops), your finger will not be on that trigger before your muzzle clears leather, and you wont shoot yourself in the leg/foot/a$$.

Frankly, having seen plenty of cops at the range, it scares me that we allow them to go around armed.

True, I guess it would be called a negligent discharge. At the moment I'm focusing on controlled accuracy. This summer, I'll be enrolling in defensive training at the local firearms training school.

I'm by no means a gun expert but of the guns I've fired I thought the SIG P226 and P229 was the best and I've fired most major 9x19's.

SIG's are well known for being incredibly reliable and precise right "out of the box" (more so than any other maker AFAIK)...no modifications required.

I'm just not a huge fan of Sigs. I have a P239 and the quality just isn't up there when compared to my Glock 32. The take down lever is difficult to get to, and the decocker is really assy. I couldn't believe how cheap the decocking lever feels. It shoots great, as do the others, but I just wasn't wowed by the ones I've seen so far. Plus the Glock's barrel sits lower in the hand, less flip.

And on the ND, it's certainly user error, finger should never be in the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot. I'll still stand by the Kel-Tecs and Glocks because all you have to do is pull the trigger. I don't like the external safeties and other things that would just get in the way when the SHTF.

Congrats on the XD, it's on my list of stuff to eventually get. Nothing but good reviews from what I've read.

My friend just bought an XD9; I can't wait to shoot it. Did you get the compact or sub-compact? Yesterday I shot a Glock for the first time, a G27, .40 cal. Nice firing weapon, a little hot but I didn't like the grip. It felt like it wanted to lift out of my hand. Anyway, good luck with the XD9.
