Nah that's pretty amazing, gives me hope to be a good guitar player before i'm 50. Wonder if he got lessons or if he was self taught.

its his dads band, dad prolly taught the kid, relized he was a natural, and then viola !

I'm going to learn to play this song and report back and say if it's that hard.

And I"m sure I"ll be giving up pretty quickly

No, but that is impressive. Lots of standard blues scales and wanking, but it's still pretty good.

After watching this, I don't think the kid is playing that solo part. It looks like the older guy with the Hawaiian shirt is (not the bright green one, but the other one). The kid isn't moving his hands fast enough to be playing those strings. Look at 4:54 in the video, you can catch a quick glimpse of the older guy moving the pick fast, at the same pace as the notes you hear.

I think the kid is playing back up guitar while the older guy is doing the solo.

Terrible camera work. This kid has amazing natural technical talent to be able to play that song after only 2 years (regardless of how much he practiced).

Unfortunately being technically gifted at the guitar means little. You have to be able to create. Some of the best guitarists IMHO don't have the greatest technical ability (i.e. David Gilmour).

The kid isn't playing those solos. He's playing the lower pitched guitar in the background, not the higher pitched solo. Still great for a kid.

Looking at the neck head shape, it looks like it's an Epiphone SG. Any guitar is playable though

for 2 years its pretty good, but that was pretty boring though due to repetition.

uhh, no. It's hard to see because it's so dark but there are a few shots where you can clearly tell he is the one playing lead. Freebird is all hammer-ons and pull-offs so his left hand isn't all over the fretboard.

I have to go with 91TTZ here, doesn't look like the kid is moving his hands fast enough to me either.

He has good taste in guitar's too. I cannot see it that well but it looks like a Gibson SG Angus Young edition.

Meh, I'll probably get flamed for this, but hearing the same minor 3rd done a few times in a row, followed by arpeggiating one chord over and over (and over) for 8 bars at a time...it's alright, but it gets tiresome after a minute or so. It's head-banging goodness (and I'm not one to piss on anyone's good time, I do like this song actually), but I wouldn't really classify it as virtuostic guitar playing. For two years of playing it's kinda neat, I guess.

My 2 cents, you don't have to agree with me.
