UPDATE!
Word from the bird says that the game is pressing as we speak. Can I confirm this? No. Is it a lie? Mayhaps. But I do have THIS for you to see

damn that is pretty expensive.
Maybe it's to make up for all that time with little income.
Anyway - still worth it.
I got the doll, it is so tiny, but heavy, looks pretty cool.

I'm sure it'll run, but I'm not sure that video card will get you much in the way of resolution.

or do i need an even newer one?
There are a few spoilers and details on the "soulcube". Also, they pretty much reveal which locations you will visit (mars, hell, etc.)
System Requirements:
Keep in mind the issue has an entire article dedicated to system requirements questions.
PC Gamer recommends:
2Ghz CPU
512 MB ram
Radeon 9800
5-channel audio
Lowest supported GPU is a Geforce 4 MX (worse than Geforce 3)
Supported cards:
GF 4 MX
GF 3
GF 4
GF FX (and higher)
ATI 8500s, 9000s and higher
The only thing it says is that one test system had a GF 6800 (!) and it ran "flawlessly at 1024x768". Yikes! I need a new card.
They also go on to say "other quality and resolutions are available, but the PC to run it well isn't".
number of new baddies shown in the accompanying pictures. Some really wicked looking stuff. You can see the new Caccodeamon. Sweet!!!!! I can also tell you that there are shots showing some beautiful fireworks and special effects. Stuff flying all over the place. It simply looks great.

September issue of PC Gamer contains the first review of Doom 3. They give it a 94%!
PC Gamer says:
Highs: Extraordinary graphics and sound; incredible tension, atmosphere, and mayhem.
Lows: Some stabs at humor fall a bit flat.
Bottom Line: Just as we'd hoped, it's a non-stop ride of tension, carnage and terror. A new classic.

A little birdy told me that D3 should go gold (depending on a few variables) next week or the following week. Just though I'd share the good news.
Yes, I consider him a reliable source.

I would tend to doubt it. I guess Far Cry is the most comparable game engine, in terms of games that are commercially available now, and I can't even get 1024 x 768 to run smoothly on my 9700 Pro (though you have a significantly better CPU than me - I have a Pentium 4 1.6A at 2.1). If you're going to upgrade, I would make the jump to at least a 9800 Pro.
