Unless you got a X800 (or a OCed 6800 U) and a v. good CPU with decent amount of RAM, you will not be able to run Doom 3 very smoothly with all the eye candy on at 1027x768. Anyone who wants to dispute this will be proven wrong when they try it.

That sounds like BS to me. I know that there's more graphically going on with Doom 3 compared to far cry, but I have an A64 3200+, 1 gig of ram, and a 9800 pro and my system blazes on Far Cry with all details set to max and both filers maxed out also. Smooth as buttah...
As a result, I expect to be able to set all detail to max with the filters at least close to maxed out without the game turning into a slideshow. BTW, Far Cry's recommended system requirements are just as high as Doom 3's, so I don't see why you automatically come to this conclusion. If, when I install the game, it runs slow with my settings like that, then I will admit my error. I wouldn't hold your breath though....

WOW. All this excitement over a video game. So what happens. Everyone goes and buys a new video card, plays the game for three months straight and then its over. No wonder America is the fattest and laziest country in the world.
