Privacy/liberty for me!

But I'm used to these databases. Its called the NICS system. I damn near gotta give a blood sample to buy a firearm.

They simply took a database that had popular public support and expanded on it.

You get what you vote for. They voted for these databases, so let'm eat shit.

I'm already on these databases so it means fuck all to me.

This is pure garbage, as far as I'm concerned.

Only a few groups should be included in such a database :

Service/Intelligence Personnel when necessary (help to identify a body, help to locate personnel if they are abducted, etc)

Any criminal with a conviction of a violent or sexual offense.

Any individual that has confirmed, documented terrorist ties (to be determined by appropriate agencies).

If they try this shit on me or my law-abiding, patriotic family, they can kiss my ass. I'll move to fucking Venezuela before I sit around to watch my America fall into a goose-stepping bunch of Nazi-wannabe anus-licking dickheads. That is, if I get out before they wall us in.

Thats idiotic. Heh: "the bureaucracy is expanding to meet the needs of an expanding bureaucracy"

The FBI is giving out a 10 year - $1 Billion contract to create a database? Wasn't their electronic casefile thing similar? After a few years and hundreds of millions of dollars I think that turned out to be a disaster. Did they ever get that thing working?

The solution is simple....

Gouge out your eyes and then cut off your hands.

Problem solved.

Looking at the other thread, Americans are naive enough to beg government to save them without realized the consequences.

They'll ignore this thread, party and watching ESPN.

I don't want to start this slope, but its hard to avoid when the majority elects dipshits into office. What can one do?

I always said I'd never buy a gun, but if someone from the government tries to take my retinal/iris scan, handprint, or map my body for tattoos, I certainly will.

No you won't. You will do what everybody else does with a police state, which is put up with it, maybe grudgingly or maybe ignorantly welcome it, but you won't be violent about it because it's just not human nature. Sucks, doesn't it?

Yes Americans are. And so are Canadians and Brits and French and Japanesse. It's inevitable.

Still don't believe we're headed towards a police state?

Imagine a CCTV-system using biometric identification. Scary.

Even that doesn't bother me, so long as the profiles being used for flagging are ONLY of a legitimate set (known violent offenders/terrorists/etc).

Of course, just the infrastructure in place for this thing would be an enabler of massive abuse potential.

Violence is not a part of human nature? Wow. Just about all I can say to that is that you might be legally retarded. You might be perfectly willing to bend over and take one in the cornhole, but I certainly am not.

As i implied in the other thread, "We the people" have been asking for this for a very long time.
How often does some politician stand up and say we need a better database to track gun sales, to track gun dealers, to track gun purchasers. Shit boys, they've had 30 years or so to hone this system its ready for the big time.

You asked for the tracking databases and you got'm. Now they go Prime Time.

But if you think this is scary, wait'll you see what we get after our own Beslan school incident. I imagine it'll knock your socks off.

Wtf? Did you truly read what Skoorb said? He's right. You can thump your chest all you want, but in such a situation you're either basically committing suicide or you'd be thrown in prison for an indefinite amount of time. They won't say 'Oh well, since you have a gun we wont bother you. Have a nice day.'

He didn't say violence wasn't a part of human nature. But submitting to an extremely powerful authority is in human nature.

Would you trust your government in something like this? I know I wouldn't. Wiretapping, nuff said.

Yep. I agree really. But to be fair, I laid out my standards for such a project to be acceptable. The only way this would work fairly is for there to be transparency of gov't and accountability so that the system is not abused, but this is the federal gov't we're talking about here. Accountability does not exist in the dictionaries or vocabularies of Washington, D.C.
