Got this chip the other day for a backup computer in my room. . Turning out to be a pretty good backup machine..

1700+@2.1ghz

Not too shabby so far..

Retail HSF is starting to heat up fast with the higher voltage..

Peaked at about 62C after 1 hour of Prime.

1.71-1.76 Vcore
2.8V Vdimm

I don't think I hit the wall yet, I'll have to check on machine downstairs.

It's true, the Pally's suck.. stock speeds only !

my 1700+ Palomino runs 1.6 Max, and it's unstable.

Strap something bigger on it and go for 2.4GHz - mine made 2.42 with an SLK800 (~50 load)

I have had my 1700 T-Bred B with this stepping at 2.4 stable and maybe 2.5 with better cooling (have volcano 9 atm)

my lil 2000+ smokes along @2300-2400 (B0 stepping of course) but i mean smokes with the stock hsf (i've hit high 70's under load)

So she's cruising along at 2124 atm (177*12) where i don't break low 60s B0 stepping rox

I am going to pop it in my machine that has my current 1700+ @ 2.4 and see what she can do..

If it can't though, I would be very happy with 2.1 on retail HSF..

2.1 - 2.2 is about right for dut3c chip. Now DLT3C will do around 2.3 - 2.5.

Stock heatsink is fine even if you're overclocking. I always did my overclocking with stock heatsink, $4 svc g68, or $10 Speeze heatsink. You only lose like 50mhz or so on the max overclock when using stock vs using $50 heatsinks. I never saw the point of buying $40-50 heatsink on Athlon XPs. If I was going to spend that much on heatsink, I would much rather buy retail Intel P4c chip which was much faster and cooler than XP.

i remember back in the day there were a bunch of 1700+'s released that were truely ment to be like 2200+ or something like that, they just didnt meet the amd temp specs, so they dropped it down to 1700+. good show, so looks like you got one of those, if so, then you have more headroom than just 2.1 ghz. cheers
