What is your major? What do you plan to do when finished?

I am a business major in Accounting. I plan to stay in the high-tech industry or join the Big 4 to get my required hours to get my Chartered Accoutant designation

Then HP hands down.

Are you even trained for marketing? I mean, you probably have core marketing classes, but will you even need marketing experience in your career path?

I had two years of marketing/finance experience with IBM Canada and other companies.

What kind of stupid question is this? If you're seriously taking advice from ATOT I can only hope that both companies get wind of it and retract their offers.

In that case I'd go with MS and the marketing aspect. Definately a good skill to have as you can apply it to anything. If you get to work with people rather than technology/strict analysts position it will be much better for your career to build your soft skills.

People who are voting for Microsoft obviously didn't read your posts about the positions or your major. It's not true that working for Microsoft is somehow more prestigious than working for the combined software/hardware giant HP. It's not true that an internship with a marketing group will be likely to help with your future life goals in any way whatsoever.

Why is it stupid? there are lots of bright people here who have years of industry experience that can give me good advice.

I would choose the HP job because of the skills involved and their potential to further your career.

Veiled bragging thread maybe?

The positions are clearly different, how do you expect US to tell you what YOU want to do with your life? Do whichever is most similar to what you'd like to do when you finish college.

The microsoft position is marketing related where I help the managers to formulate marketing strategies for Microsoft's product.

The HP position is a business analyst position where I do forcasting and analysis on HP consumer product. I believe this position is more technical in nature.

which position should I take? Both companies are equally pretigious and well known..its a hard decision.
