19" CRT monitor and speakers

I'm thinking to buy a 19" CRT monitor, and I've thinked in Samsung 997MB. Anyone have any alternative for me?

I'm also thinking in Logitech Z-5500 or Z-5450 for speakers. I think, but i'm not sure, that the only diference between them is the power, in W, that is bigger in Z-5500, and that Z-5450 are wireless. I have also the Z-5400 and Creative Gigaworks G550, but i think that these are weaker. What's your opinion?

Okay, there is no Z-5400, you're talking about the Z-5300 right? Anyway, G500 is a pretty good speaker package, they have better sound quality than the Z-5500, but they don't have the control pod or decoder that the Z-5500. It depends on what you're looking for.

Z-5450 is just a Z-5300 with wireless rear speakers.

For a CRT I would recommend what I use.
The Philips 109B. Awesome monitor.

For speakers I think everyone here knows about my love of the z-5300's. Those are my recommendation for a small to mid-sized room.
I dont think you would appreciate the 5500's unless you are an audiophile or have a huge room to fill with sound.
Since you're asking for advice on multimedia speakers I can assume your arent an audiophile.

I have a 19" CRT right now and I've been thinking about making the jump up to a 22" CRT. LCDs I've seen don't do it for me, so I want to snag one of the really great 22" CRTs while I still can meaning I'm thinking about going refurbished.

I'm not sure what you were planning on for the pricing of the Samsung, but you could get a refurb professional grade 22" like that Mitsubishi Diamondtron based CRT there. (Plenty of other refub options that are even more affordable too)

If you're set on 19" then by all means get it, but there are other deals out there if you're willing to go used.

For the speakers consideration, yeah like has been said the 5450s are more like the 5300s than the 5500s. The "wireless" rear speakers even have to be plugged into wall outlets to work, so it seems like a big waste to me.

For speakers are you looking for mostly music or gaming? If it's mostly music you might be better off with a 2.0 or 2.1 set than a letter quality 5.1 set. Of course 5.1 is a great thing to have for gaming so if that's your primary concern the logitech sets and other 5.1 options are a good bet.

Yet again, what yoyo says is the truth. If i was going to get a CRT monitor today it would certainly a be a 20" or bigger Diamondtron/Trinitron display. They can be had for good money and offer excellent IQ.

Where I live, i can't find a CRT bigger than 19", because I wanted a 21" or a 20". So, the choise final for speakers are Z-5500 or Gigaworks. I want speakers 5.1 because I will use them for gaming, also for music, but major for gaming. Thanks any help

I have a set of Z-5500s and I love them. Had a set of z560s before them... still working great also. I like logitech speakers.... bass is a little boomy... but the z5500s are a step up from the previous top of the line z680s. I would go for the 5500s... but I'm sure others here will tend to disagree...
