Hi folks,

Me planning to buy Viewsonic 19? VX924/922 and the Native resolution for these monitors are ? 1280x1024

So, me decide to see how things looks in 1280 x 1024 Resolution and so me turned my 17? CRT to the 1280x1024 resolution.. But when I switched the resolution on my CRT, I am unable to surf the internet properly due to extremely small fonts and even my desktop display/folders etc.. looks small and cramped!

I just wanted to know that the display that I am getting on my CRT at 1280 x 1024 Resolution will be same in the LCD as well ? Do in LCD things get better by auto calibration of fonts and other things ?

Is there something that can be done to overcome this problem in LCD?

Also, if I decrease the resolution to say 1024x768, will the LCD screen suffer from color bleeding OR blur or other kind of problems?

For games, I wanted to know that if the native resolution is 1280 x 1024, can one play games at resolution below without any problems in lcd ?

Any help would be appreciated.

it'll be fine. remember, your 17" crt has a viewing size of about 16", which means the lcd will be about 3" larger.

I'm reading this on my Viewsonic VP930b 19in. LCD and I can read everything fine. Trust me you'll be able to read it. It's so small on your CRT because first the screen is actually only 16in. so by going to a 19in. LCD you gain 3 more inches which makes the screen alot bigger. The text will be sharp too.

you should be able to see fine... if you lower the resolution the lcd will look alot worse. I play all my games at 1280 x 1024 on a 17'' LCD and 1280 x 1024 on desktop... looks fine idk what your talking about do you have eye problems? lets say you cant see and its too small no problem just raise your dpi.

if you decrease the resolution, whether in games or windows, it'll function just fine, but it won't be as sharp. the reason for this is the lcd will scale anything you send to it's native resolution. this scaling will result in a softer image. outputting at native res avoids this.

You realize that the 19" LCD is going to have a much larger viewable area (with larger pixels) don't you? I don't have a problem with my 19" Dell LCD, you can always scoot the monitor up closer if it bothers you. My brother just got a 17" LCD and that thing was hard to read at 1280x1024.

It will look fine. The monitor is MUCH bigger than a 17inch CRT (only about 16 viewable) and thus things will be about the same size.

You can also change font sizes and stuff but its a little more complicated. Running at non native resolution is a very bad idea and looks like crap

I use my vx924 and the Fonts are much larger than on my CRT it seems. No trouble at all in readign anything. In fact, I love this resolution.

Guyz,

Is it so that the Mainpage of any website always get centred in the middle of the screen at 1280x1024 native resolution ?

Also, is the page gets normally scaled after the main webpage?

I am very concerned about surfing internet on an 19" with Native resolution, as i spend almost 4 hours daily surfing net !!

Went from a 17" CRT to a 19" Samsung 940B yesterday and couldn't of been happier. Text is a lot more crisp and gaming is a lot nicer.
