19" OR 21" Monitor?

Hi,
I've been trolling EBay and many other sites for sometime now shopping for a NEW/used Monitor. I presently have a 17" Viewsonic (8-9 yrs old) and initially started researching good 19" Monitors to replace the 17". Then I found like many here that for a few dollars more or less you can get a REFURBED 21" from many places. I have read and studied till BLUE in the face and have almost made the leap one way or the other several times - in a 19", I have been leaning toward the Viewsonic models, P95f, and G90FB; or NEC FE 990 (NEW).
BUT these refurbed 21's have kept me from already going to one of these 19's. Mainly - scared to go refurb even though several sellers on EBAY do offer a 3 YR WARR on their products.
What are your feelings and experiences possibly with good/bad retailers of refurbs????

Who offers these 3 year warranties on refurbed goods? If it's through the manufacturer, I'd say you're safe. If it's not the manufacturer, run. Going from a 17 to 19 will seem huge as it is, and you'll probably be so amazed and satisfied (I am) that you won't want a 21 for a few more years. Or, you can add on a second monitor when you feel your 19 isn't big enough.

Just out of curiosity, which refurbed 21s are you considering? The P95f is a great 19".

I don't know about warranty, but I got a used 19" from Merkortech.com and I am happy....almost 2 years now flawless and my first one was DOA yet they shipped me out a new one 2nd day.

I had a 17" Samsung GLSI....I will say going to 19" is more heat....going to 21" is alot more heat. Plus a 21" takes up a heck of alot of desk space.

Get the biggest one you can afford and try to buy new with a good warranty wherever possible.

I agree, that warranty is nice to have, and my experiences have been that you will very likely need to use that warranty.

Once you got a 21" everything else seems so small.

Get a 21" monitor you will not regret it.

TKS for GOOD feedback. To answer a couple questions: When I said 3 YR WARR offered - I was referring to a couple sellers of refurbs on EBAY, one fella, I believe calls himself "monitormon". Many give 90 days or some 6 months.
Have done tons of research, nothing better to do I guess, and have a LIST of possible 21"ers that review well: here's some, Compaq P1220; Hitachi CM815+; Mitsubishi 2060u; Viewmaster P225f; NEC FE 1250+;Samsung 1200NF.
Viewsonic gives a 1 Year WARR on their Refurbs BTW.

Decisions, decisions and especially when you have schizophrenic indecision - is TUFF!

I'd say save some money and try to get in on an envision 19in deal at staples. Sometimes they can be had for $100.
The envision monitors do 1600x1200@75, and so far at least for me, have proven reliable. (I have 3, never a problem with them).
