I work at a University. We were cleaning out a grad student area and lodged behind an old TV was a bag of Doritos, with chips still in them, FROM 1984!!!!! Whoa!!! Talk about a flashback... it was like looking back in time. For that reason, it was a pretty cool discovery, but it's also kind of disgusting considering this group of grads hadn't cleaned this area for over 22 years!!!

Wow, I could really go for some 1984 Doritos with extra cheese flavour right about now. If only I had some exired brownie mix to dip them in...

I don't believe those are really from 1984. I notice the date on the bag....but a few things don't add up to me. I don't believe they started "freshness dating" chips until the late 1980s/early 1990s.... Plus, I remember that bag design.....just can't put my finger on when they stopped making them.
I'm just thinking they may be a few years newer than 23.

what does the freshness date say? the copyright is only applicable to the bag's design, and doesn't indicate when the bag was made.

No, I didn't.
Not accusing you of photoshopping. I just can't believe a bag of chips retailed for $1.99 in 1984. Most weren't more than $1.49 from what I remember in the 80s... I think the 1984 is copyright of the Doritos name or something.Originally posted by: lytalbayre

TRUST me when I say I'm not that good at photoshop. You're looking at unedited pics.

I remember that bag design in the 1990s. They changed it a few times in the mid-late 90s. I would guess that bag could be 10 years old.....possibly 12.
