I have here 2 new NF7-S Abit boards from Newegg that will not post. Can anyone sudgest what might be going wrong?

Trouble shooting I have done.

1) removed the boards from the case and removed everyting but the CPU and video.

2) tryed 2 AGP (one brand new) and one PCI video cards.

3) pluged a 3 wire 80mm fan into the CPU header.

4) used alternate power supplys to power them.

I'm prety sure both are dead but 2 boards in a row that won't post makes me wonder if it's something i'm dooing wrong. I already have RMA numbers for them and they agreed to refund the boards so I could order 2 more and have them here by tommrow. I'm more then happy with the way Newegg is handleing things ... but.

Could still be the RAM or CPU. Do you get any beep codes?

You are trying with PS, mobo, CPU, RAM, and video, right? Video and PS don't seem to be the issue.

Move the CMOS jumper to the OTHER position.
I have seen them sent from the factory in wrong location.

Took it apart and tryed to fire it up just like I had it set when it fired and nothing.
Tryed the other mobo setup like the first when it booted and nothing.

Man this is getting really anoying, I have built this comuter at least 10 times now and can't get it to boot. Have any other ideas?

take out the battery, and put it back in.... its a long shot but what the hell.. also, when you booted up your first motherboard properly, did you set your CPU FSB speeds up ? it could be that you need to reset your bios again due to the safeguarding of the clock frequencies if you didnt set it up when you booted without the case, just after resetting the bios again.

If you remove the CMOS battery or use the CMOS jumper to reset the board be sure to unplug the power supply or you will be wasting your time.

Thanks for the sugestions but I can't even get to the bios, all i get it is spinning fans and "check your connection" on the monitor.

This is driving me nuts .. it booted and now its back to nothing again. A fluke maybe?

Abit and it's failure rate shines through again
that's one of the original reasons I never bought Abit.
there is probably some sort of other problem...or they could have been damaged in shipping too. I don't know..

What kind of videocard is it? If it's a new Radeon 9500 or 9700, it requires the secondary power plug to be plugged in.

take your mobo out of the case again and set it up... i had a similar problem with my previous motherboard... sometimes i would get a beep, other times i'd just get a black screen.. turned out to be the processor, as well as a video card issue. I was using a voodoo 5, and for some reason I needed to step the AGP voltage a few 10ths to get it to boot properly, but didnt know this at the time, so i shorted my mobo..
