i agree, i dont think 20" is the proper title for this moniter, being that the display is only 18". looks like a total pos to me, id invest my money in a quality (new) monitor.

Refurbished is another strike, and the fact that they don't mention the warranty or how long it is... Third strike, the fact that its got 18" visible, thats less than most 19" monitors. Another minus, the large shipping, although you kinda gotta expect that for a lot of monitor purchases.

Anyway, IMHO, this deal is NOT hot, the title should be updated for refurb, and I would personally add in DPI and visible into title. Besides that, if you wanted to bump it would be nice if you posted some thoughts on the deal Bump is more of a for sale/trade forum thing

.31 dot pitch is not that bad, because the monitor has such a large screen all the pixels have to be larger. a 20" monitor usually will actually have enough space on screen to actually display each pixel as its own distinct dot. lots of 19" monitors can technically do 1600x1200, but do not actually have 2 million pixels on screen, and that leads to blurriness.

Tell you what, you pick up a .31 dot pitch 19" screen (because that's what this is, with 18" visible, its smaller than my 19" one), and tell me its not that bad. I'll stick with my 19" .26 dot pitch. My 19" monitor can do up to 1920x1440, and there's no bluriness. I've had and seen what a .31 dot pitch it, its NASTY. Perhaps on a 24" its differant, but I can tell you from personal experiance, if you are getting a 19" make SURE its got a good dot pitch. After all, a monitor is the part you will be staring at for hours on end, its not a good idea to skimp on it, even if you get a 17" or 15" screen. After all, they are pretty inexpensive now. Its easy to find a decent deal with a rebate at local stores for monitors. The monitor I bought has a 3 year warranty, and that's also important to me.

I know you guys are having a lot of fun, but maybe you want to check "the facts". I got a monitor. It is .28mm dot pitch. It is 18.7" viewable. It is not .31mm dot pitch, nor is it 18" viewable. You can see the specs here. It was <$150 shipped. It's not replacing my current 19", but as a second or third monitor it's great.

Well I'm glad you got something good, but the specs shown on the webpage ARE 18" viewable and .31mm dot pitch. I'm guessing that they send out any refurbed monitor they have that's under those specs, and you happened to get one that was worthwhile. I know I'm not taking a chance on it myself. Monitors are something I've very particular about. Anyway, glad you got a good one. If anyone else gets one, it would be nice to see what they got also, to see if its the same or differant.

i didnt say that i would rather have a .31 dot pitch monitor. i also have a 19" .26 monitor. I have a 21" .31 dot pitch nanao flexscan f750i. the picture is not bad at all. I wouldnt say its the best, that monitor is 9 years old, but there is truth to the , actual pixels thing. most 19" monitors that arent really high end, do not actually produce enough distinct pixels, to show a 1600x1200 picture, with one actual dot through the shadow mask per pixel to display all 2 million pixels, so some pixels arent shown. the reason you still think its sharp, is that you dont really notice , but it could be better. thats why companies put a "recommended" resolution on their monitors, because those are the res'es that the shadowmask has enough holes to display with one pixel per hole.
