2000FP Dell LCD???

Anyone have this monitor? I'm searching for a big LCD for GAMING purposes, and I've heard talk of this screen being real good for gaming.
Can anyone attest to this from experience?

The pixel response time is 25ms. It's got a 20% discount right now, so it will cost you about $1,300 plus shipping.

Ugh, I read all 3 of those posts, but little is mentioned 'bout gaming.
And anyways, there may be new info - ie; "I loved my 2000FP 'til it croaked after the 90-day warranty ran-out" (just a ficticious example)
Scanning old posts is nice, but it's not the way to get up-to-date information or opinions.

Well, when you see someone reply with Anyone?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? it sure sounds like they haven't done much research.

Anyhow, the 2000FP is perfect for games (FPS, role playing) and DVD video. No ghosting, and a crystal clear screen. However I prefer my Dell P1110 FD Trinitron over it anyday.

I got one attached to a GF3. Works great with Q3. Replaced a Sony GDM-F500R and Mitsu 2040u.

There's no substitute to actually seeing one. Some people see no ghosting, others see some. Only your eyes will tell you.

I've had mine since Jan. 3 and I absolutely love it. I'm never going back to tube monitors again after using this for a couple weeks. Everything is *crystal* clear...you'll know what I mean when you see it, I guess.

As for gaming, so far I've tried Return to Castle Wolfenstein, EverQuest, Civilization 3, and a few others. On RtCW, there was a bit of ghosting when turning, but it didn't bother me at all...and the extreme clarity I was getting when zooming in to snipe or just looking at something on the wall or the ground made it well worth it. In the slower-paced games it's like comparing a scratched-up LP or hissy tape to a CD...clear vs. just old-fashioned and analog, which pretty much sums up the monitor as a whole.

And, with all of Dell's specials, it's a bargain! $1334 vs. over $2000 on PriceWatch for almost any other 20" LCD? This is the one you want, believe me...

By the way, I'm using the DVI cable that came with it attached to a LeadTek geForce3 ti500. I haven't tried it with the standard VGA cable.

Let's look at the facts.

Most good LCDs are at 25ms typical. If you game at around 40fps everything will be nice and clear.

If you start playing games and running them at 50+ fps you will notice some ghosting. So the more fps the more the ghosting.

You will see more ghosting when images are dark or grey because thats where it takes the longest times to switch from one to gray and back again. In dark shades you can have a typical responce for around 30-45ms easily even though the LCD specs state 25ms typical.

So if you are playing at around 40fps tops and playing games with plenty of bright colors you will be fine. As soon as you start playing at around 60fps and games like RTCW you will notice ghosting.

VG191, DELL FP2000, PLANAR, COMPAQ they are all around 25ms so you can't go wrong with them. They are all good monitors.

There are only a few manufg. that actually make the LCD screen so they are basically the same LCD screen just a different brand on the top of the LCD panel and a diffrenet price.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

Although the refresh is a bit funky, ITS SUPER CLEAR.

It blows away my NEC Multisync FE950.

However I don't know where to get the right drivers for the monitor...

Yes I'm sorry for the confusion...

Windows XP Pro detects it as a 1600x1200 digital flat panel

And the visual quality IS AMAZING. It blows away my NEC Multisync FE monitors
