2005FPW + XBOX

Question: I have my 2005 FPW with, of course, a single Composite Input and an S-VIDEO. First of all (notice my total noob-ness in this question), dont you use S-VIDEO in conjunction with a Composite in? Ok... I guess thats a big NO. And... what about adding an optical In for my surround stereo system. Does anyone XBOX-y know a good adapter for this problem?

Get the Xbox Advanced AV Pack, it adds S-Video to the Xbox, and will come with all the cables you need. Afterwards, just pop in the Optical cable to the adapter as well and it will work. It won't look like crap, but it probably won't look as good as a regular TV, due to the monitor running at such a low resolution.

Also, the S video will look pretty darn BAD.

Search google and get a component to VGA adapter. Preferably one that is NOT self powered (i.e. one with a walwart).

I have one and it looks fine, however I never used it on the Dell 2005FP.

Do they make a VGA to component converter? My TV box is VGA out but I can't run PiP or PbP with DVI and VGA at the same time on my 2405FPW.

Mmm, I just started looking for those adapters. And yeah, are there DVI to Component adapters? And how could this improve the quality in the display? Of course, I know near to nothing on this matter.

Oh and btw, since this display ain't HD-READY, will it look good? Decent? Above par?

HD READY is somewhat of a sales point. Virtually all computer monitors are capable of HD resolutions. Like 480p (kinda crappy) 1080i (less crappy to nice) and 720p (quite nice). Those three resolutions cover all of the xbox games, newer xbox360 games may be 1080p (there is some speculation, but show me the money).

One problem is that computer monitors are high resolution monitors and you will be quite close to it. You will notice the inherent deficiencies in the graphics.

480p and 720p look quite good via this on a 2005fpw. It just converrts component to VGA and even can handle the audio breakout for you (as long as you have the AV pack on your xbox that gives you component).
